Reliable sourcing

[edit]

It is important that we use reliable sourcing. Before we use a political blog of questionable quality, perhaps we could find sources that are more widely accepted? If such sources cannot be found then we must ask why not.

Independent Australia has long been the subject of negative comment on WP:RSN. Basically it either reprints material found elsewhere, or just makes shit up. -Pete (talk) 17:39, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's what Template:Verify source and Template:Unreliable source? are for - to give editors the opportunity to check the information, potentially find the reliable source information has been lifted from, and work to WP:FIXTHEPROBLEM. Removing dubious sources and leaving the information taken from them intact is counterproductive. However, in this case the article has much bigger problems of fundamental details of the case lacking any citation, so I've tagged the article rather than restore this once source, in the hope that improved sourcing throughout will also cover the material in question.
