Edit and discrepancies

[edit]

Sorry if I'm not doing this right, but the building is misidentified. The passenger depot is a different building. The blues museum is in the old YY&MV Freight Depot https://www.apps.mdah.ms.gov/Public/prop.aspx?id=5255&view=facts&y=1176 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.225.167.232 (talk) 20:21, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i noticed this being added to a couple disambiguation pages. I just added the NRHP infobox and added, in bold, alternative names for the NRHP-listed building. If this is one article covering both the museum and the building, with links to here from NRHP lists and disambig pages, I think that it should be made clear this way. However, i didn't see the later section on the building that was there already. Perhaps that could now be revised, or my earlier edit revised. The NRHP infobox gives a 1995 date for NRHP listing while the later section gives a post-2000 date. This and other discrepancies could probably best be cleared up by getting more information, such as getting a copy of the NRHP application documents for the site, which would be available, free, by request to the National Register. Hope my edit plus this note is helpful. doncram (talk) 01:08, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I sourced the conflicting dates. (One had a typo on my part but they still don't quite match.) Was the building built in 1918 or 1926? Was it NRHP listed in 1995 or 1996? Did the Central Illinois use it as a passenger or freight depot. My "facts" come from the museum which may or may not be good at architectural history. At least the address isn't an issue: "Blues Alley" was clearly named in honor of the mueum. I'm in favor of having one self-contradictory paragraph in the building section if you have no objection. Thanks again for your help on the disambig page.RevelationDirect (talk) 01:45, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good. I think the article could work with having upfront mention as I put in, and with expansion in the later building section using additional material, but I defer to you about however you'd like to edit/present the article. The place was definitely listed on the National Register on October 31, 1995, as stated in the NRIS database. The database sometimes has errors, but the primary, authoritative source for date is the "Weekly listing" report by the National Park Service, which IS the listing. You can see the date verified for this one on page 64 of this 72 page PDF: http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/listings/Weekly_Register_List_1995.pdf. About the original building date, perhaps it was built in two parts. About the post-2000 date of NRHP listing, perhaps the museum filed an additional document with the National Register later, perhaps just with additional historical info (such additional documentations sometimes are done and recorded within the National Register) or perhaps with a boundary change such as to cover a secondary structure. These matters would be addressed fully within the NRHP documents that are available upon your request. Regards, doncram (talk) 02:46, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Both a passenger and freight depot exist. The museum is housed in the freight depot, and the passenger depot is a separate construction located to the east of the museum. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.209.128.152 (talk) 02:24, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
