Iranologie History of Iran Chapter V: Sasanians is unpublished(appears to be a self opinionated piece off the internet) and Zarinkoob does not list the title of a book. I have removed the first line where it says the Muslim armies destroyed and burned the Academy. First, one of the reference is a personal user editable website with no reference being provided (Iranologie), and second reference used is 'Zarinkoob pXXX' (not a proper citation). Finally, it is known that Baitul Hikam / House of Wisdom in Baghdad was somewhat modelled after this Academy, so if this Academy was burned to the ground, then how can House of Wisdom, created 200 yrs later, be modelled after this academy. --Theotherguy1 (talk) 13:22, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nowhere in page 200 of Decline of the West does Spengler give any semblance of commentary as to the Academy of Gondishapur. The closest is only on page 63, where he states "From what we know of the Alexandrian mathematic, it is a necessary presumption that there was a great movement within the Middle East, of which the centre of gravity must have lain in the Persian-Babylonian schools (such as Edessa, Gundisapora and Ctesiphon) and of which only details found their way into the regions of Classical speech."

On page 277 of Decline of the West, "But there appeared also in these early centuries a brilliant Scholasticism and Mysticism of Magian type, domesticated in the renowned schools of the Aramaen region -- the Persian schools of Ctesiphon, Resaina, and Gundisapora..."

I deeply apologise. It appears I had mistakenly looked at Decline of the West, Volume I. The statement "But there appeared also in these early centuries a brilliant Scholasticism and Mysticism of Magian type, domesticated in the renowned schools of the Aramaean region the Persian schools of Ctesiphon, Resaina, Gundisapora, the Jewish of Sura, Nehardea, Kinnesrin." appears in page 200 of Decline of the West, Volume 2, and in page 277 of Decline of the West, Abridged Version. Still, I'm not sure how the logical connection to "three Sasanian centers of education (Ctesiphon, Ras al-Alyn, Gundeshapur)" was made, as the quote does list out others.
