Emi Nishino (Nishino Emi,Japanese: 西野惠未, born March 14, 1987..[1]) is a Japanese keyboardist, singer, studio musician, and actress. She was born in Tokyo.

Life and career

[edit]

Emi Nishino started learning the piano at the age of two[2]. After entering the Kunitachi College of Music affiliated kindergarten, she began formal training in classical music. She continued her music education at the Kunitachi College of Music's affiliated schools, focusing on piano while also studying various aspects of music. She specialized in classical piano until graduating from the Keyboard Department of the Kunitachi College of Music.[3]

During high school, Emi was not allowed to listen to music other than classical. However, when she entered high school, Emi Nishino was invited to join a pop band as the lead singer, which exposed her to various types of music[4]. After graduating from university, she successfully obtained her teaching certificate and became a teacher, leading a life away from music for a few years. The 2011 Tohoku Earthquake in Japan was the catalyst for her to decide to leave her job and return to the music scene.

In the spring of 2014, she began performing officially as a studio musician. Emi Nishino is currently mainly engaged in live performances and recording sessions as a keyboard player, and she has also expanded her musical activities as a choral singer and arranger[5][1].

On November 29, 2022, the NHK nighttime drama "She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat" (NHK General TV) began airing, marking Emi Nishino's first role as Kasuga Totoko. This was her first acting role and her first appearance in a TV drama[6][7][8][9]. The 08 Episode of the drama had won the Silver Award of the New York Festivals 2023 International TV and Film Awards[10][11].

On December 15, 2022, Emi Nishino released her first solo single "Akatsuki," which was also digitally released on music platforms[12].

On February, 2023, Emi Nishino was invited and aired two shows of the program of "CITY CHILL CLUB", which artists create and air a 2-hour music playlist based on the concept of ``CHILL'' (healing, wonderful, cool)[13].

On July 1, 2023, three songs, "Someday,"[14]"O,"[15] and "Weekend,"[16] produced by MAKIADACHI, were released in sequence.

On August, a collaborative song, "Thunder", feated by Emi Nishino and Esme Mori, were released[17]

On January 29, 2024, the NHK nighttime drama "She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat Season 2" (NHK General TV) began airing, with Emi Nishino played as Kasuga Totoko[18][19][20].

On March 16, 2024, she organized and hosted a commemorative/first birthday event for the opening of the Emi Nishino fan website "Area 314"[1], saying, "Huh? Didn't I just born not long ago?"[21]
