This is the user talk page for me, K6ka, where you can leave messages for me.

Please remember the rules around civility and the guidelines around assuming good faith. To summarize:
- Civility is when you are respectful and considerate of other editors, even if you don't agree with them.
- Assuming good faith is when you assume that the people you are working with want to help Wikipedia, rather than hurt it.

Not following these two guidelines can lead to problems that quickly become difficult to solve. It also makes editing Wikipedia a lot less enjoyable than it should be.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions I get, and their answers.

Q: I am not logged in to Wikipedia, and I got a message from you saying that I vandalized an article that I didn't edit. What's going on?
A: No need to panic! Wikipedia uses your IP address to identify you when you are not logged in. IP addresses may be shared between multiple users, or be reassigned to different users periodically. For example, if you are at school or a coffee shop, the IP address you are using is shared by everyone using the Internet there.
The message you received was intended for someone who had previously used the IP address you are currently using. If you did not vandalize Wikipedia, you can safely ignore the message. If you get these kinds of messages frequently, you may want to consider creating an account and logging in to it. That way, any messages you get will actually be intended for you, rather than someone else who used your IP address.
Q: I am not logged into Wikipedia, and I can't edit because you have blocked me. What do I do?
A: See the above: you are probably on a shared IP address, and someone before you was editing Wikipedia inappropriately. Shared IP addresses are usually blocked from editing for long periods of time to prevent abuse. The good news is that you can usually still edit if you log in. If you don't have an account, and cannot create one because of the block, you can request an account.
Q: You reverted one of my edits. Why is that?
A: Unless I'm reverting vandalism, I usually provide an explanation for my reverts, either in my edit summary, or in a message on your user talk page. There are many reasons for reverting an edit, and each case has its own reason. If you're still not sure why I reverted your edit, you can ask me on this talk page.
Q: Are there alternate ways of contacting you?
A: For wiki-related inquiries, you can also reach me at the following venues:
- Discord – I can be found on the unofficial Wikipedia Discord server under the username k6ka. Please do not send me a friend request; just mention my username in any public channel and I'll respond when I get a chance to.
- Email – You must be logged in and have an email address registered with your account to use this feature.

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.

Recent changes

In UploadWizard, the dialog to see an image preview has been removed. You already see the images in the thumbnails when you upload them. [1]
UploadWizard dialogs look a bit different now. They have been updated to the new OOUI look. [2]
You can now edit music scores in VisualEditor. You can add new sheet music scores and get live updates when you edit one. [3]
When you send an e-mail to another editor using Special:EmailUser, that user will now get a notification on the wiki as well. [4]
You can now see 500 images when you upload images from Flickr with UploadWizard. Before this change the limit was 50. [5]
The Wikimedia mailing lists have been upgraded. [6]
MediaWiki developers spent a day looking at proposed code changes in Gerrit. The goal was to clean up the backlog and give feedback to volunteer developers. [7]

Problems

Some visitors had problems reaching the Wikimedia sites for an hour on September 24. [8][9]

Changes this week

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from September 29. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from September 30. It will be on all Wikipedias from October 1 (calendar).
There will be a new beta feature that allows editors to use Flow on their user talkpage if they want to. Each wiki can decide if they want to enable it. [10]
The Content Translation tool can give translation suggestions. This feature will now be available in more languages: English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Turkish, Japanese, Italian, and Catalan. [11]

Meetings

You can join the strategy process of the Reading department of Wikimedia Engineering. [12]
You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs are the most important. The meeting will be on 29 September at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.

I just wanted to thank you for the helpful information and apologize for the post removal/forgetting to sign my messages/not including reasoning for post edits. I actually edited the post/messages multiple times just for the sake of signing it and I didn't even notice the reasoning section at the time. And the post removal was due to someone else accessing my account, they messed up a few other things too. Using the vandal template

I'm trying to get attention for some of Czar's edits. As they constitute vandalism, I'm sure that seeing an IP edit to you means "yeah, nothing to see here, just warn and move on" but please do read on.

The page Dawn(demo) (Not sure how to link to old versions using [[]] syntax) was without a doubt vandalised, as was the other Nvidia tech demo of the time, they were left with redirects that'd make no sense to people coming from the pages that link there. Like me! I thought I had the wrong tab.

See also Orb3D which I admit isn't a great page, but is a page worth having (see the pages that link there also)

I'm also not sure how to reply to things (evidently) so a quick guide to that would be nice.
