After a three year lapse in newsletters due to inactivity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is time to get started again. Here is the long awaited first issue of the 2023 newsletter.

Did you know that... Finland had to wait forty-four years from their debut in 1961 to achieve their first victory, and had previously only received three 12 points prior to the 2006 contest?

Project news

  • The WikiProject has received a new look, in the colours of the 2024 contest host country, Sweden. Be sure to take a look at the newly redesigned News Desk and the new Archive tab (which is still under construction).
  • There have been discussions of creating a broader project encompassing all song contests. Be sure to share your thoughts in the WikiProject talk page.

ABU TV Song Festival

AI Song Contest
  • A Coruña, Spain will host the AI Song Contest 2023 on 9 November, with the theme "Walking with AI" (Spanish: O camiño da IA). It is hosted by Galacia after their entry was runner-up last year.

Eurovision Choir
  • After being held in 2017 and 2019, the choral contest has been cancelled after preperations had already begun by national broadcasters for the 2023 edition.

OGAE Second Chance Contest
  • The 2023 edition will take place in Eskilstuna, Sweden and will feature 24 entries which failed to be selected to take part in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
