This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Animal. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Animal|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Animal. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Karelian Bobtail (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

Cannot find any independent sigcov. The mentions I can find are so brief and vague I can't even be sure they've not just simply misspelt Kurilian Bobtail. Traumnovelle (talk) 09:36, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not the original editor for this article, I'm the one who added it to the list of cat breeds article. Karelian Bobtails are rare breed and mostly in rural villages. There are a handful of breeders in the Republic and Leningrad Oblast. Breeding is difficult because of the recessive gene. All original information online is in Russian, and a bit in Suvi. If you give me a couple weeks I can perhaps contact some people to see if they have the original research and documents from the 90s. I can't do this immediately though as I have field work for the next couple weeks.

List of fictional primates in film (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

A vast majority of list is WP:LISTCRUFT and fails WP:LISTCRIT. I would also support a merge back into List of fictional primates if the outcome isn't deletion. SirMemeGod15:05, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That’s the issue though. This list could easily be merged back into the main article with no length or accessibility issues arising, which is what I assume SPLITLIST concerns. SirMemeGod21:17, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It could, maybe, everything is feasible. But should it? SPLITLIST says "Regardless, a list or table should be kept as short as is feasible for its purpose and scope. Too much statistical data is against policy." Note that there are FIVE detailed lists on the page: this one and List of fictional primates in comics, List of fictional primates in television, List of fictional primates in animation List of fictional primates in literature. If you merge back one, you merge back all the other and then you have an awful navigation experience. I would go even further, and suggest to undo the redirect for List_of_fictional_primates_in_video_games but that might be discussed later maybe. I probably won't make any further comments here. Decide what you think best. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 21:41, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to PROD this, but it was removed, so I figure this is the next best place. I see no notability, though some sources do exist. The bear is just another poaching victim, which is unfortunate, but should really be included in a different article, perhaps one about the decline of brown bears in the Pyrenees. The references that are used all redirect to the article for some reason, as well. Kingsmasher678 (talk) 21:02, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: @Kingsmasher678: This article is translated from the French Wikipedia where the references are working: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boutxy @Insillaciv: have you checked out Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia yet? It's allowed and encouraged to translate from the other language Wikipedias. The Creative Commons license requires attribution; it's often done with an edit summary when starting a translation. The references are really more of a nitpick than anything, my issue comes from the notability side of things. I would argue that the sources I can access, which is only the news articles for some reason, even in the french article, simply don't show a reason for this article.
    Kingsmasher678 (talk) 15:16, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the French sources don't show notability, then delete. Rjjiii (ii) (talk) 15:29, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Draftify - much as I dislike the draft system, this is potentially a valid article IMO if the references can be fixed (the reports for example are available elsewhere on the internet even though the fr-Wiki links do indeed seem to be broken), which I'm willing to attempt but don't have time to do at this exact moment. I don't agree in any case that there is no notability here, largely because the number of these bears is tiny (about 14-15 of them), and each one is named, known and followed, so individual bears often have an unusually high profile. Anyway, please draftify and I'll see if I can work it up - nothing lost if I can't. Ingratis (talk) 09:14, 29 September 2024 (UTC) In co-operation with the creator Insillaciv, obvs, if he/she/they is still around - not intending to cut them out.Ingratis (talk) 10:38, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
