WikiMimes are users that try to imitate the edits of helpful WikiFauna. They are often confused as WikiDragons or WikiTrolls because of their penchant for making inappropriate or grandiose edits, and are sometimes driven away from the encyclopaedia because of their inability to properly convey their well-meaning changes. But if a WikiMime is given a proper mentor, they can learn how to alert others of their intentions.
Ecology
editWikiMimes are typically found patrolling Recent Changes and Page Histories, and they attempt to mimic the edits of respected editors such as WikiGryphons and WikiKnights. They often do this because they do not have the time or patience to read significant amounts of policy, yet want to prove themselves to be just as admirable. Unfortunately, most tend to mimic the more visible and flamboyant editors, and can cause disruptive changes when their edits are published in the wrong pages and contexts. WikiMimes also have a difficult time conversing with other editors, and as such they might be blocked when they cannot explain the motives behind their edits.
Some discouraged WikiMimes have been adopted by patient WikiFauna, and have been taught to read the manual of style. Allowing WikiMimes to understand the manual may encourage them to better control their edits, and many educated WikiMimes have become skilled copyeditors, and page cleaners.
Identifying
editMost WikiMimes are hard to identify, because most prefer to edit silently and tend to not leave behind many edit summaries or talk page posts. A few WikiMimes sometimes leave the following userbox on their user pages to alert passing WikiFauna of their predicament.
