You might look at some of Wikipedia's style guidelines. It would be worth familiarising yourself with some of those, then if you decide to stay around you would avoid doing this sort of thing (your edit there was soon reversed) that goes against the project's standards! But by all means, be bold in suggesting improvements, and if in doubt ask on talk pages!
