Kavale Mutt

While you are editing Kavale mutt, please take a little time to format the article in a manner appropriate for WIkipedia, and to add appropriate links. An explanation of the subject for those not already familiar with it would also be a good idea. See Wikipedia:Help and Wikipedia:Manual of style for more information. Hi. You removed some tags (wikify and cleanup) from the article mentioned above. Please don't do that without addressing the issues mentioned in the tags. Thank you. DJ Clayworth (talk) 16:32, 5 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ok DJ, YOu may put that back if you wish. I thought I have had taken care of wikifying it etc. I tried to put that back but I did not found exact 'text' to put it back. Thanks --Ashok Prabhu (talk) 08:13, 17 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Shri Sachidananda Saraswati Swamiji.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

File source problem with File:Kavale Mutt Swamiji.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Kavale Mutt Swamiji.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:12, 7 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:12, 7 February 2010 (UTC) {{helpme}} Help me fix this. Help me

edit

{{helpme}} Need help in setting the copyright things for the images that I have uploaded. I could not find a way to edit it. please help.

I have moved this to the bottom of the page - new entries on a page are added to the bottom, unless you are replying to a specific message, in which case you reply after that message.
You say that you created the images yourself - but I notice that none of the images appear to have meta-data (which says which model of camera was used, the settings, etc).
I think your best bet would be to ask about this at Wikipedia:Media Copyright Questions. Leave a message there - but first read the blurb near the top of the page which explains about how to add a copyright tag. Assuming that this does not help, you'll need to explain which image(s) you need help with, where you got the images from, and ask if they would explain how to tag them. Good luck! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 15:14, 10 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

At the moment, there is no one on the IRC channel for helping editors who can help you with the copyright tags. Read the section above titled "Help me", which explains where to go to get help with this. Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 16:03, 10 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}}Please help me on Alignment of text where Pictures are placed in Shri Gaudapadacharya Mutt page under section Adi Guru Shri Gaudapadacharya & Branches (Ashrams). I did not have this problem till yesterday..? Why is it behaving strange today..? --Ashok Prabhu (Talk) 11:05, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please use {{helpme}} here, on your own talk page - not on article discussion pages. I moved this over, from
Also, then you add to a discussion page, you should create a new section at the end, not the beginning.
I didn't see anything wrong with the pictures, except that there were too many of them. Because they were forced to a specific size (with 250px), I expect that's why you had trouble; perhaps it will be ok now.
The better answer would be to reduce the number of pictures in the article - they are too many, and it aways causes problems if the length of pictures is greater than the length of section - this problem is called 'bunching' and described in Wikipedia:How to fix bunched-up edit links - however I don't recommend trying to 'fix' bunching; instead, reduce the number of pictures within the body text.
I have added {{commons}} in the 'see also', which provides a link to as many images as you like over on commmons. I will make a category there, very soon, so that the link will show all the images on the page. Therefore, with all the pics available via that link, I do highly recommend reducing the number of images in the article.
If they really must remain in the article, use a gallery section.
If you need more help, please ask. Best,  Chzz  ►  12:24, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Please move all those boxes to the top of this page.  Chzz  ►  12:29, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks and I apreciate your quick reply and guidance. --Ashok Prabhu (Talk) 12:56, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

No problem. I have now moved all the pics over to the Commons, so that I could put them all into commons:Category:Shri Gaudapadacharya Mutt. I've also added {{Commons category}}|Shri Gaudapadacharya Mutt to the article - that will show a box, as shown here.
So, even if some pics do have to be removed from the article, at least they're linked up, if people do want to find them.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  14:51, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well that tb is a nice trick to let other know I have replied, I would use that now first time in your talk page. By the way the Commons category seem to be not working..! When I clicked on it it gav me this message Oops! Internet Explorer could not find commons.wikimedia.org, is there anything you are still doing on it..? Take a look. You are a great help. --Ashok Prabhu (Talk) 17:33, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

As of right now, Wikipedia is experiencing major technical problems, and I thing that is probably the cause of that error - the problem is specifically in looking up IP addresses in the DNS; caused by some overheated network switches. It is being worked on now. (Glad the tb worked!)  Chzz  ►  17:43, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Gomantak

Which region of Goa,is specifically known as Gomantak according to you?

  • Goa itself is called as Gomantak, and not any specific region is Goa bears that name.

Please clarify with citations. You do not seem to hail from Goa,but I am.

Nijgoykar (talk) 16:59, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dear Nijgoykar, I appreciate your reply. To tell you what comprised 'Gomantak' you may read that at History of Goa#Settlement. My concern is you replacing 'Gomantak' with 'Goa', citing reason that it does not exist. Gomantak/Gomanta (History of Goa) was a historic name and when we write/compile the history it is important to mention those names as it is. For example when we talk about history of Varanasi, we do mention 'Kashi' or 'Banaras', are you saying we should never mention 'Kashi' as it does not exist today..? And you mentioned You do not seem to hail from Goa, but I am, let us refrain from getting personal. --Ashok Prabhu (Talk) 04:31, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I took a look at RSB. Most of the issues with RSB and Math article overlap. My chief concern is the use of non-neutral references, which is creating a non-neutral article. The references used in both articles are not WP:Reliable sources (Please read this link) and seem to be glorified, non-neutral accounts. --Redtigerxyz Talk 18:22, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Stories Project

edit

Hello,

My name is Victor Grigas, and I'm a storyteller at the Wikimedia foundation. We're telling stories of Wikipedia users, editors, donors, programmers and staff to paint a picture of who uses Wikipedia - for the 2011 fundraiser.

I am in the process of planning a trip to India to gather stories from Indian Wikipedians in face-to-face interviews (possibly on video).

My primary goal is to conduct 15-20 interviews, and hopefully enough of my interviews will make compelling stories that will effectively solicit donations from the public. These stories may also be used for other communication purposes by the foundation.

I found your userpage on a list of prolific Wikipedians and thought I’d reach out to you. Prolific editing is always a good story to tell!

If you are interested in participating, please contact me via my email:

vgrigas@wikimedia.org

Thank you for your time!

Victor

About me: I have been a Wikipedia editor since 2005, and have a background in film, video and audio. My userpage can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Victorgrigas

Thanks Victor, I will get back to you - Ashok Prabhu (Talk) 13:20, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Page:Kashi Math , Wrong Infromation

edit

Hi Ashok, I'm a user from Kochi, I need a help from you. We all know the Current Madathipathi & Pattashishya of Kashi math is our Sundheendra Thirtha Swamiji & Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji respectively.

But in Wikipedia Page Kashi Math it shows the outdated details and it still showing the Releived Shishya Raghavendra as Madathipathi.

I have made so many attempts to change the Page & Add the details of our new Shishya Swamiji. But One user Granuator is always doing UNDO each time we update.

Kindly update the page with following details & Block Granuator for his unconstructive UNDOs

Details to be Added in Kashi Math are:

H H Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji

edit

His Holiness Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji is now considered to be 21st Pontiff of Shree Kashi Mutt Samsthan as H.H.Raghavendra Thirtha Swamiji got relieved form his position. As on 19 July 2000, H.H.Shrimath Sudheendra Thirtha Swamiji relinquished the junior H.H.Raghavendra Thirtha of his position including all the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the Math through a formal proclamation. So it was necessary to initate a new Shishya to continue the tradition of Kashi math. On 20th June, 2002, at Shri Vyasashram, Sadhubela, Haridwar, H.H. Shrimath Sudheendra Thirtha Swamiji gave deeksha to a new Shishya - Brahmachari called Shri Umesh Mallya a second year student B.Com. student and named him as Shrimat Samyamindra Tirth Swamiji, in a well-attended programme. H.H.Shrimath Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji is the current pattashishya & Uttaradhikari of Kashi Math [1]

Parihara & Punah Prathrishtta Mahotsav 2012

After the arrest of junior pontiff Raghavendra Thirtha at Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh in October 2011, the ‘parikaras’ was held in Kadapa Court. In November 2012, the ‘parikaras’ including Main Deities of Samsthan Kashi Math (Lord Shri Veda Vyasa, Lord Shri Rama (Raghupati) and Lord Narasimha) were handed over to H.H.Shrimath Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji. Later on June 13th 2012 the Punah Pratishta of the idols of Lord Sri Vyasa Raghupathi Narasimha was done at Kashi Math in Sri Venkatramana Temple, Carstreet in Mangalore. It was a grand ceremony for all world GSB – Kashimath followers. It was conducted under the leadership and guidance of H.H.Shrimath Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji & H.H.Shrimath Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji, the Mathadipathi & Patta Shishya of the Kashi Mutt Samsthan respectively. The Punah Pratishta is being held as per the Sankalpa of the seers as the idols of the patron deities were deprived of pooja for almost a decade owing to a controversy between the senior seer and his erstwhile shishya which had even reached the court. Over 10,000 devotees were took part in programmes which were marked by various rituals. A mass Anna Santarpane was also held. [2]
