Dear friend Rotideypoc41352,
Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to teach me how to modify the background colour in the header of a Navbox! Your prompt and most helpful assistance is very much appreciated!
Thank you also for being one of the volunteers who contribute to the {{Helpme}} facility for the benefit of your fellow editors. Your sense of service to our community is admirable and commendable; thanks!

@Masterwikia1: You need to elaborate on what you need help with, but I think you are complaining about the reversion of your content removal. I have looked it over, and it appears like Rotideypoc41352 acted according to policy, and also invited you to discuss the issue on the articles talk page (see his edit summary). Regardless, you should request the help on your own talk page or on an article's talk page, not on someone else's. You can leave a massage on my talk page for any further assistance. ( Note to Rotideypoc41352, please don't hesitate to delete my comment to Masterwikia1 if you want to clean your talk page from irrelevant things, the help request wasn't supposed to be here to begin with. WannaBeEditor (talk) 08:38, 14 April 2016 (UTC) )Reply

Wiki Loves Pride 2016

As a past contributor, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

  1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
  2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
  3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:07, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

hi, thanks for adding the book sources for this article. i went ahead and changed them to a google book link, which is preferred. the main thing is to add the ISBN number which will provide a link to world cat for a library search. i use this tool to convert url to wikicode [1] cheers. Thank you for your kind reply on multiple sandbox pages!

Sir, thank you for your kind instructions on creating multiple sandbox pages!
I had written the code, but did not click the red link to create the new page. How stupid of me!
Could you please inform me on creating multiple talk pages? Bkpsusmitaa (talk) 06:21, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Bkpsusmitaa: on the new sandbox page, just click the "talk" tab, and it will direct you to create a new one. Cheers! Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 21:18, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your help!

In response to my query, you pointed me to WP:PROPERSPLIT, which had the information I needed. While I was there I was even able to make a small improvement to the project page. JamesMLane t c 13:59, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Nemalion

Thanks for your help. I am still not sure how best to deal with this file. I wrote the details based on the information on Nemalion helminthoides. I understand that "Further studies are required of the relationship between Nemalion helminthoides and multifidum." I wrote up what the details I had from the references I had referring only to N. helminthoides not any other species or the genus in general. Perhaps this file should be changed to H. helminthoides and a separate file on Nemalion created giving (among other things) the list of species in the genus which I see was added later. If you agree I would be grateful if you would do it - far too complicated for me. If you think otherwise I would be grateful and very interestdOsborne 18:34, 21 June 2017 (UTC)! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Osborne (talkcontribs) 18:34, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

CSD G13 nominations

You have nominated user:Sheep Vava for speedy deletion as a G13 abandoned draft. Please do not do this; a user page can not be regarded as a draft, ever; nor can a userpage ever be assumed to be abandoned. Please review the parameters listed in WP:CSD. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:49, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Anthony Bradbury: I'm always interested in getting feedback about how I can do better. However, without a better understanding of what I should focus on when reading WP:CSD, I'm not sure how re-reviewing the page will help, as I will probably continue to miss the same things when I first read the page. What should I do when I encounter an inactive user page being used as a draft, or an abandoned draft (that will probably not pass AfC review) in an inactive user's sandbox? If you have advice in that vein, talking about specifically what you'd like me to do differently (or specific points I missed on WP:CSD or other policy pages) would be very helpful to me. Thank you for your work on Wikipedia. Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 17:23, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
It can be a problem. CSD G2, CSD G6 or CSD U2 will take care of most of them. It is, of course, fair to say that an inactive user with a five-year-old userpage is not doing anyone any harm, so deletion is in any case not mandatory here. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 23:40, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Day LA has been postponed

Hi and Happy New Year!

I'm working on organizing Wikipedia Day LA. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for RSVP'ing! It was you, me, and my friend Salome (who is not a Wikipedian). Not surprisingly, we're going to postpone the celebration until mid-February. Date TBA (but probably mid-month).

Just wanted to let you know in case you don't see the message on the meetup page. However, since I'm here...and possibly have your attention...if you're at all interested in getting involved -- either on the day of the event, or in advance of it -- please let me know. (Helping to plan ; would be great if you're up for it; we need to come up with panel ideas, etc.) Hope to see you in February. Thanks, Julie JSFarman (talk) 20:30, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

A belated hello and happy new year to you as well, Julie! I saw the postponement notice on Facebook. Unfortunately, I think neither my schedule nor my skillset would be of service in helping you guys plan. Good luck and thanks for the heads up! Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 06:29, 9 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I am so sorry you can't make it this year! But good to know that you're out there (or out here, I guess). I hope you can come to another meetup. JSFarman (talk) 19:36, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

DYK for I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold

Did you intend to take over, or were you just helping Vanguard 10? Vanguard has not continued the process despite a query sent to its Talk, and in a DYK nomination of another article, wrote that had completed the DYK process for I Saw... David notMD (talk) 03:35, 19 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, David notMD! I haven't communicated to Vanguard regarding this matter. I was just helping. If Vanguard looks responsive, I'd ask him to put his seal of approval on the nom page, since it seems we've adequately addressed the issues brought up. Thanks and good luck! I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take no more than 1-2 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Your survey Link: https://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9S3JByWf57fXEkR?Q_DL=56np5HpEZWkMlr7_9S3JByWf57fXEkR_MLRP_863NhTwFtW3tgQ5&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 20:11, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Pseudoscience stubs

You should be a bit more careful when creating new stubs (and ideally run them past Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals) - the pseudoscience one was deleted by consensus at Wikipedia:Stub_types_for_deletion/Log/2007/June/24. Also if you do create a new stub, you need to create a corresponding category - Category:Pseudoscience stubs in this case - to avoid a red-linked category per WP:REDNOT. Le Deluge (talk) 16:31, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Le Deluge: thanks for letting me know, and I'm sorry for causing inconvenience. Should I request the template be deleted? Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 17:31, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
No worries, it happens. Probably best to delete it unless there's lots more out there - I've not been involved with stubs for a while, the old standard used to be that 30 in a category was a good minimum number.Le Deluge (talk) 17:35, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Mama Lu's Dumpling House

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mama Lu's Dumpling House, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
