I was trying to move the article "Young New Democrats" to "New Democratic Youth of Canada" in the proper manner, because I did a copy and paste, which supposedly is not the best why to do things.

  • Thank you for reverting my user page as well. I was wondering when it would be vandalized, considering that most editors here at Wikipedia, who have been around Wikipedia for longer than four months and certainly editors who have been around longer than that, have had their user pages vandalized. Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami

edit

I received a message from you that told me not to delete a section on the Archdiocese of Miami page. The section I deleted is defamatory and incorrect. I have printed the page out and sent it to the Catholic League since it contains unverified accusations made against all 400 of the Catholic Bishops in addition to other errors. I have since added to the page to make it more complete, using information contained in articles that the site already references (Matt Abbott columns). I am the person who filed a grievance against the attorney who is trying to defame our Archdiocese. My name is Nancy Heise. Please email me at NancyHeise@aol.com if there is a problem you would like to discuss.

Dear Ms. Heise: Thank you for your cooperation. I am not familiar with the case, but unexplained removal of text from articles is generally seen as disruptive. I suggest you discuss the details on the article's Talk page with the other editors of that page. For now, I have left your updated version of the article as is, since it seems to capture both sides of this debate. Thank you. Owen× 00:35, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you OwenX. I am not a frequent editor of Wikipedia pages, I just happen to have intimate knowlede of the case cited in this article. My edits concerning my efforts can be verified by the Matt Abbott columns already referenced in the article. I think they are listed as reference item #3. I do not know how to add the little blue box with a 3 in it but that is what belongs after the paragraphs I added.

Advice on Design Comics entry?

edit

Hi Owen, I have tried to remove the "ad-ness" from the design comics entry; it's not intended as an advertisement and this is a recognized design descipline used by YAHOO, HP, Symantec, Sun, Cisco and other companies. Do you have advice on better ways to write it? (I have read the guidelines but maybe I am not getting something.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mhardee (talkcontribs) 17:57, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

As it is right now, the Design comics article is more promotional than informational. I'm sure all the facts are true, but the tone isn't suitable for an encyclopedia. Please check other articles to get an idea of a proper tone and style for this article. Check Haptic or Office Assistant for some good examples. Owen× 18:09, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Relevance

edit

The vandalism of your page is relevant because it indicates that you have an agenda. I'm listing authors and book that are Christians and you obviously have some sort of agenda against Christians.

The guidelines say that: Books should have at a minimum an ISBN number (for books published after 1966), be available at a dozen or more libraries and be catalogued by its country of origin's official or de facto national library. For example, in the United States books are catalogued by the Library of Congress; United Kingdom at the British Library; Australia at the National Library of Australia; Canada at the Library and Archives Canada; France at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, China at the National Library Board; in Brazil by the Fundação Biblioteca Nacional; Argentina at Biblioteca Nacional de la República Argentina; and in India at the National Library of India. For a complete list, see List of national libraries. However, these are exclusionary criteria rather than inclusionary; meeting these threshold standards does not imply that a book is notable, whereas a book which does not meet them, most likely is not.

These books all meet the guidelines. You just don't like them becasue they're by Christians. They're notable because they've been ranked as one of the top 25 BAM books by the leading BAM blog. What are your qualifications for judging this? In looking at your posts I don't see any expertise in this area.

Again, you have an agenda and are vanadlizing my posts. I have reported you to the appropriate authorities. This will not be tolerated!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Businessgirl (talkcontribs) 01:13, August 30, 2007 (UTC)

Catalyst Manufacturing

edit

Please advise how I can make the entry for Catalyst Manufacturing acceptable. I'm just trying to include it in the list of ERP software packages. Thanks, Greg —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mfgadv (talkcontribs) 01:02, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

First of all, the company or product has to be notable. Please review Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) to see if it qualifies; unless this product has been reviewed in major publications, chances are it isn't. Be sure to cite the relevant sources. Secondly, the article should be informative rather than promotional. Listing the features without mentioning a hint of criticism is a good indication of marketing material rather than encyclopedic information; articles must have a neutral point of view. Review the articles for other ERP packages to see what I mean. Owen× 01:10, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bank of Israel logo.png. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:45, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Sun D'Or logo.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Sun D'Or logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Jusjih 00:20, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:MAMRAM unit badge (en).png

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MAMRAM unit badge (en).png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
