Proposed Project

edit

John and I have both left a couple more comments for you at WP:COUNCIL/P#Sex worker issues, in case you weren't watching.--Doug.(talk contribs) 01:40, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think that there is probably sufficient interest to start the group as a task force of the Sexology and Sexuality WikiProject, if you want to start it. I could probably even adjust their banner after getting that project's consent on the talk page to include separate assessments for the new group. Let me know how you want to proceed with this. Thanks. John Carter (talk) 17:56, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
As I recalled it, we were going to shape this project as a subproject of Sexuality and present it a la the Hinduism/ Hinduism Mythology banner? Do we have too few people to do that rather than being a task force or is this mainly a semantics thing? I definitely would like to get on with getting consent from Sexuality Wikiproject in either case, John are you volunteering to do that?NoMonaLisa (talk) 07:20, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I left a message on the project's talk page, with no response yet. Personally, I think one week would be more than enough time for them to make any negative responses. There have been several cases I know of where such proposals are made, and people just don't respond if they don't have any objections. So, come the 15th, if I don't hear anything there, I figure to go ahead and change the banner. John Carter (talk) 13:24, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is the thing that says "Oppose" in bold letters at the bottom of our proposal section in the WikiProjects page actually from the project?--NoMonaLisa (talk) 05:18, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I guess it's someone saying he or she doesn't think we should have an independent project but that it should be a task force, evidently needs to read the discussion since that seems to be where things are headed at present. Apparently went through and commented similarly on every or nearly every proposal listed.--Doug.(talk contribs) 05:44, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hey, can you link me up to where you put in your request? I was just looking and didn't find it.--NoMonaLisa (talk) 06:11, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I also support this WikiProject (or Task Force) and have left comments over at WP:COUNCIL/P#Sex workers. Iamcuriousblue (talk) 03:54, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wonderful! So happy to see it finally together! Thanks for all your help Doug and John! I noticed that in the section that says, "Members should also feel free to add {{User Sex workers work group}} to their userpages to identify themselves as members of this group,"that the link to the userbox is not created yet. I don't know how to go about doing this. Can we make that happen sometime soon? Thanks again.--NoMonaLisa (talk) 21:48, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of List of sex work types

edit

I have nominated List of sex work types, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of sex work types. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Equazcion /C 18:07, 30 Apr 2008 (UTC) 18:07, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

While this is a valid idea, it does not belong in article space. With your permission I will move it to your user page, which is where it should have been all along. --John (talk) 19:50, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Whoopsie for committing a Wikifauxpas! So, where is the list now?--NoMonaLisa (talk) 05:50, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since you are part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Sexology and sexuality, i would appreciate it if you could voice your opinion on the article Play party (BDSM), which is currently up for deletion. --Simon Speed (talk) 22:55, 10 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sex worker rights

edit

Hi there. it looks like sex worker rights will be included in the rights template (see [Template talk:Rights]). in the moment its in very bad shape and I wondered if you were interested in helping improving/extending it. I have recently done some work on the World Charter for Prostitutes' Rights article, thats how I came to the subject. Anyway, contributions are welcome.--SasiSasi (talk) 23:36, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Stories Project

edit

Aloha!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I find stories that drive our annual fundraising efforts. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I see that you have an interest in human sexuality. That is an immensely important topic to be contributing to! I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me, either over the phone, by Skype, by Facebook, by email, or any means you like. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project and we'll set up a good time to discuss further.

Thank you,

Victor Grigas
