Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

Today's motto...

The World's Encyclopedia

Nominate one today!

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).

Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.

Barak Rosenshine moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Barak Rosenshine, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Attribution yes, public domain no

edit

I urge you to look at the comment I added to this user page User talk:Paxton Jordan. I applied your attention to the possible plagiarism, but it isn't really public domain content it's copying from an existing Wikipedia article which is permitted if properly attributed. That's sort of what you said but please look at how I worded my comment S Philbrick(Talk) 20:04, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
Thank you so much for the message :)
I am afraid I am not too sure what you mean. I saw the copyright from a copy patrol scan and investigating it led to me seeing the copy and paste. Apologies if it was from another Wikipedia article, please ignore what I said if I was wrong :)

Copy editing of Jayarajadeva

edit

Hi, would you be so kind to have a retake at the article Jayarajadeva. You added a tag of copy-editing for tone and I've updated the same with what I think is a non-bias wording.

If it still needs that tag, what improvements would you suggest in the article?

Thanks :) Atyuttam (talk) 15:54, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Category:Fictional television shows

edit

Hello, you seem to have categorised a bunch of articles into Category:Fictional television shows. This category seems to be intended for television programming that occurs inside works of fiction. So, if a book/movie/tv show had another fictional TV show that just existed inside it, that would go in this category. (Hohum @) 18:56, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Category:Anime and manga

edit

Hello! Regarding your edits to pages in Category:Netflix original anime, I am actually opposed to them. Category:Anime and manga is a top-level category and states that It should directly contain very few, if any, pages and should mainly contain subcategories. All the articles you added are general series, which have no reason to be in a top-level category (and are already in a subcategory anyway) Link20XX (talk) 20:56, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey Link, thank you for the message. It's lovely to hear from you! Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Rome: Total War, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Demo. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Anastasia (1997 film)

edit

You flagged Anastasia (1997 film) as a copyvio, but when looking at the purported source, it is blatantly obvious that bookpedia.co has copied from the Wikipedia article, simply removing the paragraph breaks. Even to leaving the section title "Plot" as an unattached word between the last sentence of the lede and first sentence of the plot section (while completely removing formatting). Rather than revert your flagging the article, I'd prefer if you verify and self-revert. Regards, Tarl N. (discuss) 04:32, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Addendum - you need to click on the "read more" for the full impact of the formatless copy to be obvious. Tarl N. (discuss) 04:33, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup tag at Apex (dinosaur)

edit

Hi, many of the proposed cleanup issues you mentioned at Apex (dinosaur) simply do not make sense:

  • The title was not in all caps to begin with, and follows the precedent of other dinosaur fossils such as Sue (dinosaur)
  • The lead is short (one sentence) as the article is currently still very short, the lead shouldn't be too big and unbalanced
  • The genus name Stegosaurus was already italicized throughout the article
  • Sections heading are one-word long, so there's no difference between title case and sentence case
  • Bolding the title on first use is very much recommended by the MoS

More confusingly, you mention issues about [edit] tags being present in the text, missing wikilinks, and categories showing up in the article body. This looks like you sent the copy-pasted page somewhere and it was mistaken with the wikitext itself. Can you please tell me what procedure you used to find those issues? Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 00:34, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I am just trying to help MrBauer24 (talk) 00:40, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, but this does not answer my question. Did you use any tools or copy-pasted the text of the article anywhere to find these "cleanup issues"? Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 01:03, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Chaotic Enby Dear Chaotic Envy,
thank you for your message.
I was utilising the tools available on the Wikipedia page that defines the standards required for new articles. I used a flowchart to determine the appropriate decision.
Thank you MrBauer24 (talk) 12:43, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Which page and flowchart are you referring to? I am still very confused about how you got some of these results, and there might be an error in the flowchart if you are getting these spurious cleanup issue. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 13:22, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
