Speedy deletion of Bondz Ngala

A tag has been placed on Bondz Ngala requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Fatal!ty (T☠LK) 10:19, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

As one of the reviewing administrators, I regret that the above particularly absurd speedy nomination had ever been placed -- it was among a large group nominated for deletion contrary to policy by a user who has now been blocked for doing so, by consensus of several administrators at WP:AN/I. Deletion has been prevented, and please feel free to remove the notice. DGG (talk) 18:17, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Elvis

You may have a look at this sandbox. To my mind, this is a whitewashed version of the Elvis article omitting several important facts concerning the singer's life. It has been created in order to replace the article in its present version. See also User talk:Rikstar/Sandbox and [1]. What is your opinion? Onefortyone (talk) 20:10, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Giorgi Sukhishvili

Hi, Egghead06. What do you make of this one[2]. I've not heard of him. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:25, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Malcolmxl5. Can find no (other than the Wiki one) hits on Google. No mention on any of the West Ham chat pages (and they really do get down to talking about some really trivial stuff) and no mention on WHUFC.com at all and this usually mentions when youth players are signed.
My Guess - this is someone creating an article about themselves or a joke surnamed player? Notice he has added himself to the WHU squad list but with a user name of Giovirus perhaps disruption is to be expected! Maybe the players surname 'Sukhisvili' gives it away?!?!?!
--Egghead06 (talk) 05:55, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, Egghead06. I've nominated it for deletion. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 10:55, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Terry Dixon

I have found a hatful of reliable sources for Terry Dixon and although he does not meet the inclusion criteria of having played at the fully professional level, I think he meets the primary inclusion criteria by having significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject. I think we should contest the proposed deletion on that basis. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:03, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Notability criteria for footballers with professional contracts with Premier League clubs and their exclusion from Wiki as they 'have not yet played a game' is one of my least favourite things about Wiki and one where I have been involved in heated discussions before. I have no wish to argue this again with the deletionists.
Personally, I agree with you. There is enough about Dixon (his call-up to the full Irish squad, his U21 appearance, his time/injuries etc with Spurs/West Ham) to have a page about him. Some folk can't see beyond the 'playing a game' 'rule'. I would, however, support your contesting of any deletion.--Egghead06 (talk) 07:02, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
As it happens, a passing IP has removed the prod tag! We'll see what happens now. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 16:51, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Savio

Hi, thanks for your thoughts. The reason i flagged up the transfer fee for Savio is (as you say) there has never been a figure quoted from a reliable source, and that any figure and breakdown thereof quoted in the press is speculation at best. I personally feel that we should not include Savio's transfer fee as it currently stands in the article as a) we do not have a reliable source which can confirm this, b) as this apparent fee is possibly dependent on many issues it could be any figure up to the quoted sum.

Also i dont really like to use the term "believed to be" on wikipedia as it is not encyclopaedic.

Joe Gadston

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Joe Gadston, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/player3/joegadston.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Joe Gadston

A tag has been placed on Joe Gadston requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ElvisFan1981

User ElvisFan1981 is currently removing large blocks of critical information from the Elvis Presley article. See [3] and Talk:Elvis_Presley#There_is_absolutely_no_point_attempting_to_shorten_this_article...... To my mind, this user is whitewashing the article, as only critical material has been deleted. What is your opinion? Onefortyone (talk) 19:47, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

I feel I have a right to defend myself here. I do not know you, egghead06, and I'm sorry that this matter has found its way to your door, but I would like you to take a look at my reply to Onefortyone on the Elvis Presley talkpage and you will hopefully understand why what they have said above is not exactly how it appears. Also, if you would like to take a look at any previous edits I've made to the article then I'm sure you will find that I have added my fair share of neutral/negative opinion to the article, and most of the edits that Onefortyone refers to above are simply paraphrasing content that was a direct quote from a book or article, something that Wikipedia doesn't appreciate. And right now, and for the last four months that Onefortyone has had nothing to do with the article, I and other editors have been attempting to reduce the size of the article because it is considered too large. This, obviously, requires that some information both positive and negative will require removal and/or serious editing. Onefortyone talks about neutral input and yet most of their own input, or rather all of it that I can recall, is completely negative and in no way neutral. They don't seem to be interested in improving the article despite many editors agreeing that it needs done, and also many good editors have left the article over the last 12/18 months because of Onefortyone and their bull-headed approach to it. It seems to me, and others, that the only unreasonable editor on the whole article is Onefortyone themselves, and yet it is them who is always accusing other editors of being unreasonable. ElvisFan1981 (talk) 23:00, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
This seems to be a never ending story, Egghead06. It is a fact that ElvisFan has removed only critical content from the Legacy section of the Elvis article. Legacy is something handed down from the past by tradition, and a celebrity’s heritage, as you may also call it, is sometimes good and sometimes bad. “As for the Legacy section”, ElvisFan says on the Elvis talk page, “I cannot and will not accept that it should ever mention anything negative about Presley.” So much for this user’s recent edits that removed large blocks of more critical information, or, as ElvisFan claims, with an innocent air, on the Elvis talk page, the “removal of some content, both NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE.” Onefortyone (talk) 02:00, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
"It is a fact that ElvisFan has removed only critical content from the Legacy section....."? What absolute nonsense, and now you have definitely exposed yourself as a liar with only one goal in this whole thing, and that is to target me personally. Fortunately, every single edit I've made is saved by Wikipedia and verifiable and so anyone who reads them will know instantly that your above claims are rubbish. Are you purposely trying to make yourself look like a fool? That's just my opinion, of course, before you find some way of using that against me.
Why can't you keep this to the talk page on Elvis Presley now? Each one of these people is now aware of it and are quite capable of reading it there in the same way that you or I are. However, seeing as you've put your own spin in this talkpage, then I will do the same for balance and fairness;
I have removed both negative and positive content, there are huge chunks of positive praise that have now been removed from the Legacy section that was there before my recent edits. There were some very positive praises that I've removed from the Acting Section also today, and from a few of the other sections that I've worked on. To say that I have only removed negative content would a downright lie, and you are very aware of that yourself. Just because I have written that "I cannot and will not accept....", does not mean that I will revert any decision to change it back if that is what any mediator decides is best. Again, you are attempting to make something sound worse that it is. And how so convenient that you only seem to copy/paste the content that is critical and in favour of your argument and fail to mention all the positive praise that has been removed/altered from the article in the last four months.
If you are interested in Wikipedia being as good a source as it can be in general and are not primarily focused on Elvis Presley, why don't you head over to the Michael Jackson article and the Freddie Mercury article and every other article that has nothing but positive remarks about their subject in the Legacy sections and tell them exactly what you've just written above about what a Legacy should be? I'm sure you will be able to find many negative things about both artists to fill into their legacy sections. Could it be that you don't actually care at all about any of that and that this is some kind of personal vendetta against only myself because of our previous disagreement four months ago? It seems very strange to me that since then you haven't had any input into any Wikipedia article, and that your very first input on your return is to alter and then personally attack me for some work that I have done to improve an article. You seem happy to keep his status as pornographer in the "Autobiography" section of his article, so I don't see why you're arguing that he is not one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98selitb (talkcontribs) 21:48, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Believe you wanted 'IS a pornographer'. No doubt he has been involved in publishing pornography, but today? Even leaving this aside to use one of his many involvements to describe him is just incorrect. From his own website.....Chairman of Gold Group International incorporating Ann Summers, Gold Aviation, Knickerbox, Greenwich House Properties, York Place and West Ham United Football Club. You may as well describe him as a lingerie salesman! Busisness man is accurate unless, of course, you wanted to be sensationalist.--Egghead06 (talk) 06:06, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

East London derby

How do we rename this article? Nobody calls it 'east london derby', i added east/south east to make it more regionally correct, but nobody calls it that either. Can you change it to Millwall FC and West Ham United FC rivalry? (which there are numerous references for) as per liverpool/man utd and arsenal/chelsea derby pages on here. The only true derby names for it are unmentionable for a wikipedia page title lol :) NoOneLikesUs (talk) 18:19, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Have renamed it as can find no name for the derby which would be acceptable to both sets of fans!!! As a side issue can find no ref at all, (web or book) for this friendly in 1895, not even in 'West Ham a complete history'?--Egghead06 (talk) 08:35, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Good man! Much better title. I'll rename it in the Navbox, people might actually find the article now, realising who it's between. I found that friendly mentioned in your own Thames Ironworks FC article, season 1895/96, but it was unsourced.

'Their biggest defeat came on 14 December when they lost in a friendly game away to Millwall Athletic 0-6. Millwall were also an 'Iron Works' side, whose south London company competed with Thames Iron Works for contacts. The rivalry between the two clubs would continue into the present day.'

I'll have to have a look in both books again for the next earliest sourced friendly, and maybe add that. I think it's important to find the first ever game between the two, friendly and competitive. We can work on this aricle together and improve it greatly methinks. Ok, off down the Den to watch Hearts. Later mate. NoOneLikesUs (talk) 11:57, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

West Ham village

Yes. That area can be referred to as West Ham village to distinguish it from West Ham in the sense that includes Plaistow, Stratford and the like.

Communications between Stratford and Plaistow have been improved by the construction of New Plaistow Road, completed in 1959, which links West Ham Lane and Plaistow Road, by-passing West Ham village. That was part of a redevelopment scheme which also included the widening of Plaistow Road and High Street.

List of West Ham United F.C. players

Hi, as one of the two main contributors to this article I invite you to conside the comments I've made at Talk:List of West Ham United F.C. players#Improvements to the article. Please post any comments you have there. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 14:42, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your response at the talk page and your recent additions of full stats to the list. You will see I have now completed the column sorting for the top 100, ready for the full stats to be added in. However, before that is done, I thought it worth having a discussion/consideration of what competitions are deemed notable for inclusion in the stats. I assume westhamstats has been used as the basis of stats figures to date, but I have noticed that it includes appearances in tournaments that may not be regarded as notable e.g. Carlton Cole's stats include 2 Friendly appearances and these are currently included in our list. Another competition where it is more arguable that it is notable is the Tennent Caledonian Cup - see my question on this at the Manchester City talk page. Also, I note that Billy Bonds stats include the "Aberdeen Tournament", which I had not heard of before. I propose that a section be added to the article similar to that at List of Doncaster Rovers F.C. players to make it clear which competitions are to be included, and I will have a go at drafting this for the West Ham article shortly. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 08:59, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
I have now amended the intro and added an explanation section, which indicates what are regarded as notable competitions (and thus to be included in the player stats). You can see the TC Cup is not currently included. Let me know if you have any views on the competitions I've chosen. I have moved 3 of the players from the secondary list to the main list - note that I have marked with a dash any competitions that they could not have played in (as opposed to showing as "0"), as this is more accurate for the reader. I have also not tried to re-order the rankings, as it is not worth it as more players from the secondary list are to be moved over. However, now that the list has changed from being a Top 100 I wonder if it is worthwhile keeping the rank column, as it may not be that useful to show who the #142 player is etc. Maybe an alternative would be to just rank for the top 20 or something? Finally, I have not added flags for the players I have copied over, as it is not clear what the flags are representing. I think it would be better for this column to change to show West Ham internationals i.e. only flags for those who gained full intl' caps whilst with the club. You can see I have not made any of the above changes for those players who were alresady on the list. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 10:13, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Ranking top 20 good idea - beyond that can't see that anyone would find that interesting or useful. Personally I don't like flags - they confuse people between place of birth and country represented but would be OK with the idea of flags for international players if you think they are OK. As for the tournaments which count for games played - my own view is that any FL, PL or SL games + UEFA European games + FA and League cup would be about it. Aberdeen Tournament, Makita Trophy, Watneys Cup, Full Members and the awful Anglo-Italian Cup plus meaningless pre-season friendlies (now called the SBOBET Cup I believe!) would be out. Rob Greens, Noble's and Cole's figures all include friendlies at the mo. Reckon if a new player would gain notability by playing in the tournament then the appearance stat would be shown in this list. If not then not counted. By the way, some of the stats include those for the 1939-40 season started but not finished. Any views or common ways of dealing with this season? --Egghead06 (talk) 15:23, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
OK, we can proceed with only keeping ranking figures for Top 20. I'm not a fan of flags and my suggestion was based on what was already there. I think for now it would be better if the column is removed, and an International column could potentially be re-added in future. Re the list of notable competitions, I think the FMC and 1990s Anglo-Italian were fully organised Football League competitions and thus notable. Yes, the Watney was a pre-season event although it was one of the first sponsored events, so gained quite a bit of coverage e.g. Rothmans line-ups. The Texaco also got quite a bit of coverage, and you can see from the Wikipedia articles, that it's predecessors eventually became the Football League Trophy. I don't know much about the Anglo-Italian League Cup, although the west ham stats site shows a reasonable attendance. For further background you can see some other list sites that include some of these events e.g. List of Stoke City F.C. players, List of Manchester City F.C. players - not articles where I came up with the list of competitions. Any further thoughts? Eldumpo (talk) 17:30, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
To sum then (I think); Pre-season friendlies are out (including the Makita Trophy) but the Watneys is in. All other appearances count. Ranking 1-20 only, no flags yet but may be revisited. Players with 100 or more appearances are on the list?--Egghead06 (talk) 04:59, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes to above; and flag column to be removed. I'll look to copy some of this discussion to the talk page. Thanks. Eldumpo (talk) 07:22, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Jeremy Spencer

In a 45 year career, Spencer has lived for about two years in the US, during which time he did very little. He produced only one album in that time, a total commercial failure. In no way is that a defining characteristic of his life, so failing the guideline. He has also lived in about 10 other countries, most of which for a lot longer - they're just not worth adding. I don't know about Rod Stewart, maybe he spent longer there. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:09, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Fair enough. Reckon child abuse allegations and Family International involvement in the USA don't define his life either........--Egghead06 (talk) 16:27, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Millie Jackson?? Much as I love both Millie Jackson and "Northern soul", I wouldn't have grouped them together. Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:20, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

From 1972 - [5], [6], [7]. I have left off adding this Category to those artists which would get a knowledable reader to query its inclusion eg Kiki Dee, Helen Shapiro before I had added text to their articles. Will do same later for Millie Jackson.--Egghead06 (talk) 04:46, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes, well, maybe, OK... I suppose we should have some criteria ready for those who would question your/our judgement on who to include - like, inclusion in authoritative websites, CD compilations, recognition in books etc. - not that I'm suggesting they should be referenced in the articles themselves. But even lists like this throw up some oddities. (Paul Anka??!!) Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:03, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

West Ham United

  Question regarding West Ham material
Dear Egghead06,

I've just discovered that you posted some pictures of the Boleyn Ground. Thanks for making them available as public domain! I'm studying Digital Filmmaking at SAE Institute London and am currently working on a 5-minute archive-based documentary about West Ham United, their history and their move to the Olympic Stadium. As the documentary has to consist 60% of archive footage, I'm currently looking for clips which I could use. I was wondering if you do perhaps also have any moving images related to West Ham United or any further, perhaps old, photographs of the Boleyn Ground. I'd highly appreciate if you got in contact with me about this! I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please contact me at me email address: natascha.fischer@gmx.co.uk

Best regards, Natascha Fischer Tash128 (talk) 13:45, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Carlos Tevez dispute

Hi Egghead06, with regards to our disagreement on the Carlos Tevez page I thought I would show you the reasonings behind my edits. I haven't been on Wikipedia as much recently as I normally am so I didn't notice the "Loan" saga again till recently, but checking the history of this page I can confirm that the "Loan" statement in the info box which you keep adding has not been a part of this article for a long time. It was re-introduced by user Dom.Lol.Soz on 3 September 2011, but like I had said in my edit comments the Tevez article has ran for a sufficiently long time without stating it inside the info box, infact it has been a very long time and bar a slight editor dispute back in August 2010 where it was removed by user User:PeeJay2K3. The statememnt "Loan" in the infobox has not appeared without contest since way back in 2008 when he was a United player, and during this time I noticed you have made a few edits without inserting "Loan" back into the infobox. At the time I monitored the discussion but didn't join in, but as the conversation burned out back in 2008 the article continued to run without "Loan" and hasn't been re-buffed until last month. Though I understand it is a strange situation I think the article looks better without listing it inside the box as it looks like he was on loan from West Ham, and its not exactly neccesary to put MSI in the info box. If you disagree please feel welcome to open a new discussion on the talk page but forcing it back on to the page without discussing it is really changing the direction of the way the article has been running for the last 3 or so years, and I am sure it will be contested by other users. Kind Regards Mike Footballgy (talk) 01:40, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

I think this a complex situation which the Infobox cannot cope with and there is no drive to do anything about it. As it stands it looks like he was signed by Man U which is equally as wrong as looking like he was on loan from West Ham. I have always found that many people fail to get their heads around the financial dealings and contractual issues which concern Tevez. The article has many other inaccuracies re fines and loans etc. The Infobox is just another place where accuracy is missing.--Egghead06 (talk) 05:01, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Category:Motown singles

Does (or should) this category include records released on subsidiary labels like V.I.P.? I wasn't sure. Regards, Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:30, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

My feeling would be not as technically and numerically and every other way this is/was a different label. Not to familiar with this label in the UK as singles came out here on Motown.--Egghead06 (talk) 09:34, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
I only mention it because you added "There's a Ghost in My House", which came out on V.I.P. in the US and Tamla Motown in the UK. I don't mind what the decision is, but we need to be consistent. I see there is no Category:Tamla Records - so, I suppose the clearest thing to do would be to make clear in the lead of the Category page that it applies to all records released by the Motown Records company - including those on its subsidiary labels - rather than just those on the Motown label itself. Sorry to be pernickety! Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:40, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Pretty sure there were no singles released on just 'Motown' in the UK and all categorised were on Tamla Motown with TMG catalogues nos from March 1965. Previous material from Berry Gordy's stable of labels was released in the UK on London, Fontana, Oriole and Stateside. Having a category for Tamla Motown singles seems like overkill to me especially as the UK market only had Tamla Motown. How about a new category - V.I.P.singles ?--Egghead06 (talk) 10:54, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Possibly, though I'm not keen to split up the existing category (I'm not that crazy about categories anyway!) Anyway, for the time being I've added a brief explanation at Category:Motown singles, to the effect that the category should include all those records released by (or on behalf of) the Motown company, rather than just those released on the Motown or Tamla Motown labels themselves. I think that's the simplest solution. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:01, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Singles template question

Seeing as you're a WP:Albums member, I was wondering if you can help with this post concerning the singles template? Dan56 (talk) 02:34, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi there

Hi EH. I'd been admiring your user page, & copying from it the Template:User Wikipedian for. But the latter, it seems to me (I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm mistaken), shows a default, if used without parameters.

The default seems set to show time elapsed since 31 Dec. 2005, i.e. (when looked at today) "5 years, 11 months and 8 days". My source for that is here.

So, when I copied it to my own user page, I supplied the parameters from my own first contribution.

Then - & some may say rather cheekily (or being bold?) - I took the liberty of applying the same principle to your page (I know I shouldn't really, but I didn't think you'd mind).

Apols. for any confusion caused (& I hope no offence). Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 10:02, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Callum Driver

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Callum Driver, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. A412 (Talk * C) 23:58, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Cease the edit warring nonsense

Don't play coy, either. You know exactly what you are doing. Whatzinaname (talk) 11:56, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

It ain't rocket science. All that's needed is to read and follow. I thought the alternative wording struck a balance. The third goal has been ruled to have not crossed the line AND England won anyway NOT because the third goal had been incorrectly. --Egghead06 (talk) 12:01, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
If England had not "scored" the third goal, Germany would not have sent all their defenders forward to force a tying goal. You know this. And you are playing coy, further, english fans were busy running onto the pitch before the 4th goal, which you also well know as you have tried to edit out of the wikipedia in the past from the looks of it. This is where the "they think it's over -- it is over" comes from; they ran out on the pitch before the game was over. You are playing games, and it's pretty sad wikipedia enables people to do such.Whatzinaname (talk) 12:17, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
It makes little difference what I or anyone else knows. It's all down to verifiabilty from reliable sources.--Egghead06 (talk) 12:23, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
This means you would need a cite for every sentence included in any wiki. I don't see you demanding that. Your only concern seems to be when England is somehow caught in the crossfire and on the losing end. Where you from anyway?Whatzinaname (talk) 12:49, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Notable Catchphrases In British Culture

Please ensure that your additions to the List of catchphrases meet the definition of a catchphrase given in wiktionary and as given in the lead section of the catchphrase article. I am not British so I am not qualified to judge the notability of your additions. The repeated utterance part refers to persons repeating the phrase in every day conversation not being repeated by the character originating the phrase. If it is so that these phrases are or have been used in British culture they should remain, if not they may be merely Slogans or Clichés. Thank you for your additions. -- Cdw ♥'s(talk) 06:35, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Not vandalism

This revert is a problem. You call it "vandalism or test edit" and link here: Wikipedia:Vandalism in the edit summary. It is neither vandalism nor a test edit, and the policy page you link to carries the implication that the edit being reverted was done in bad faith, the summary reads "Intentionally making abusive edits to Wikipedia will result in a block." This is very harsh, considering the edit you reverted. Please do not revert non-vandalism with edit summaries like this. If it slows you down because you have to be more careful to find the right twiggle buttons or whatever other tool you're using, so be it. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 16:26, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Better source request for File:WallyStPier.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:WallyStPier.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Brookingstand.JPG.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

  1. the creator of the original work
  2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:16, 24 September 2012 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 12:16, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

We noticed though that when you edited Frank Piercy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Posthumously (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). January 2013

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to 2012–13 Premier League: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:15, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

I did not steal from you sandbox.

Woah. I had all good intention. Look at the page history next time. I created the article before I found your damn sandbox and the reason I found it was because of google. Google gives you wikipedia sandboxes as well. So when I found it I looked at it and found some more interesting things about Lee that could be properly be added to the page and I added it. At the same time I felt sorry because at that moment I realized that you wanted to create the article but I had done it before you so I gave you credit for the extra information. THAT IS ALL.

I do not steal. Lets get that out of the way. Again, I will repeat, I do not steal under any circumstances. I have no history of stealing from anywhere on wikipedia or off and I dont like being accused of it. ESPECIALLY when I did not steal in first place and that a simple observation of the page history and the way I created the article would have shown you that (What I mean from that is that if you actually looked at your sandbox and the page I created you will see sharp contrasts to both pages.). --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 11:31, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Your comments are pure obfuscation and you are wrong on so many counts. The article Elliot Lee was created by me last night at 21:45. Your incorrectly spelled Elliott Lee was created at 22:19 (ie after mine). Yes the stub was different but within an hour you had added stuff you had ripped-off from my Sandbox - very bad etiquette. Three points - 1/ How do you know what is in my Sandbox to be correct? 2/ Did you bother to check the correct name of the individual? 3/ I'm not that bothered if you like or don't like my comments, other people Sandboxes are not for you to copy.--Egghead06 (talk) 12:41, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
You added sources in your sandbox. I only copied and pasted stuff that was sourced. As for my misspelling. Sorry, human error. Unless we are robots. You could have just told me that instead of accusing me of a crime. Its simple. Delete or redirect my page and tell me about and done. I just wanted to give you credit, is that actually wrong. I know wikipedia says so but use some common sense instead of making quick accusations. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 13:14, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
You only compound your actions by your statement "I only copied and pasted stuff that was sourced". Don't do it.--Egghead06 (talk) 13:44, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Removing a picture because of copyright issues is fair enough, although I did try (unsuccessfully) to credit the source. However, the obsession with timestamps is absolutely irrational. What is so difficult to understand or accept about "match played (example) 23 Dec"? There is no need to document the specific second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decade in which you edited a page. With all the inconsistent and questionable content on various Wikipedia pages, I think certain people have their priorities in the wrong places. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.44.241.26 (talk) 19:00, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

This isn't difficult. Firstly I am conforming to the style which has been adopted by consensus by fellow editor - see Template:Infobox football biography. Secondly it is not one of my priorities but if a style has been adopted and I agree with it I conform. If I don't agree I ignore it and don't go near that area when editing as to do otherwise is considered disruptive. Continually going against the style for timestamps is such behaviour - hence 'people' being blocked for doing so . As I have stated to you before, how easy is it to replace the date with five of these '~' when we know the figures in the box are correct. Quicker than typing a date and has been set-up for our convenience. Not for me to tell other editors what to do but maybe let this one go and improve the articles on Irish footballers. You obviously are interested in this subject. Adding well referenced narrative helps. As for the content on other pages Wiki will always quote you WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS.--Egghead06 (talk) 06:24, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Oh well I did try!!!!--Egghead06 (talk) 15:44, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Edit to Billy Bridgeman

Good evening I made edits twice to Billy Bridgeman.I am his Great Grandaughter and have his birth, marriage and death certificates showing correct dates and therefore age at death. Please could you let me know why you've changed it back again? If I need to do something to prove I have these documents, please let me know as I'm new to wikipedia. I would like to get this info correct. You may have taken info from other articles online about him, but the dates people have used are incorrect. Thank you in advance...hoping I've posted this in the right place. Bridgemanphillips (talk) 10:23, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Updating stats

Hi there, when updating the infobox, please also remember to also update the 'Career statistics table' if appropriate, such as in Mohamed Diamé. Regards, GiantSnowman 12:55, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Moving image in Megson (band)

Hi, any reason why you moved your image of Debbie back to the left hand side on the page Megson (band)? Text and section breaks should really not be broken like that which is why I moved it to the right in the first place - the article is far more readable that way. I've moved it back for now but so please explain your reasoning before you do it again. --Mattrition (talk) 13:24, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Please read wp:whitespace - cheers.--Egghead06 (talk) 14:02, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for your explanation. I read the page on whitespace but I can't see how this relates to the placement of the photo. No whitespace is created when the photo is moved to the right, and I still feel that this is the best place for it because it improves readability. In case we are seeing different things, this is what the layout looks like in my browser when the image is to the right https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2SXgphrr8kOWktBWlV0UVBMWjQ/edit?usp=sharing. No vertical whitespace is added. Could you please clarify your reasoning for left alignment? --Mattrition (talk) 14:21, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Due to a lack of response, I have moved the image back to the right side of the page. In my opinion the page reads much better with images on the right, and as far as I can tell wikipedia's manual of style agrees with me (see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Images#Forced_left_justification). Please elaborate on your explanation before you undo this again. Thanks --Mattrition (talk) 12:55, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Better source request for File:WallyStPier.jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Taylors Trophy

Hi Egghead06

I dont mind if you delete it. I was trying to save it as a test page? or one that people can contribute to? but couldnt seem to do it - and had to come into work. Really I am just trying it out because it is my first page. Reasons for keeping it would be that it is already mentioned on a couple of peoples pages as a film they were in and they themselves are notable actors so thought it might be of interest to people but I am new to this so will leave it if you dont want it cheers Lord — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lord el puss (talkcontribs) 08:04, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Ego Critico Deletion

Hi! Egghead06, yes and thank you I want to delete the Ego Critico article because I migrate all the information to a new article called "El Egocentrismo Crítico", and I want to tell you that i'm new here, and if you don't mind, would you like to show me how can I put in Disambiguation the word Ego Critico with the actual Article. Hope that you understand, THANKS! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andreserm (talkcontribs) 04:49, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Two BLP prods

The reason why there is nothing to "click" on except for the wiki link is because it's an offline reference. If you're in Singapore (just if) grab today's Straits Times and flip until the Life! Section. There, go to pages C4–C5 and presto, your source (quite lengthy) is there. When the online version becomes available I will duly add the URL. Cheers! ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble08:03, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

That would be good. Nothing like verifiability. Hope you understand the nomination when all there is is a Wikilink to a paper?Egghead06 (talk) 08:09, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

I do not see what is wrong with offline sources. While yes, online sources will be much better and much more convenient, the information present is still nonetheless verifiable... Provided you manage to get the paper. I have provided a title, page numbers, date of publication, newspaper, and I will soon be adding the author. Please reconsider; I rather you remove the Prod yourself. Be well. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble08:34, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
[12] Consider it done. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble08:35, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm sure you are correct but it seems scant evidence of verifiability to say its offline in a paper you don't have or online behind a subscription but hey, that's WP. Egghead06 (talk) 09:01, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Kingshook Kindergarten

I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of Kingshook Kindergarten. You nominated it under the A7 criterion, but there it actually specifically states that educational institutions are exempt from that criterion. Since A7 is not an appropriate venue for deleting this article, I would suggest using WP:PROD or WP:AFD to proceed for notability reasons. Or, if there happens to be an article on the larger school district that the article is located in, you could redirect the kindergarten article to there (but I'm not very familiar with the education system and its organization in Bangladesh).--Slon02 (talk) 02:43, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

I don't either. Shame A7 does not point you to a criterion which does cover educational institutions! I'm sure the creator will be expanding the article any day now.....Egghead06 (talk) 03:55, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

You are welcome to nominate the article for deletion using WP:AFD. The rule of thumb is that secondary schools are appropriate for articles, primary schools are not suitable unless they have an unusual degree of coverage in reliable sources, and I would suspect very few kindergartens will survive an AFD nomination.-gadfium 06:01, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

The figure I used for the Wales U-21 caps came from the FAW website - see here - which differs from the BBC, so who's right? -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 06:47, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

My hope would be that the FAW kept their site up-to-date but I don't know for sure. Don't know where the BBC got the extra 2 caps from. Is there is a definite site on WP for international stats?--Egghead06 (talk) 06:54, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Generally, you can find details of full caps for the recent era quite easily, but Under-21 are harder to come by. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:11, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper song)

Thank you for removing the random and mostly unreferenced long list of covers for this song. I fully support WP guidelines that song articles should provide basic information in a quick and easy-to-read fashion. They shouldn't be used for sprawling long lists of unsourced content.

If I see other such unreferenced long random lists I will remove them and hopefully it will make the song articles neater and easier to read, as well as being more encylopedic and properly referenced.86.179.57.95 (talk) 01:33, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Good for you. I dislike these lists and WP:SONGCOVER and WP:POPCULTURE seem to support my view. I have removed several, from Motown and soul music songs as I have an interest in these areas but welcome any further reduction in these random and mostly unreferenced lists. For any cover, I think if it is notable it will stand up in an article on its own. If not it doesn't belong.--Egghead06 (talk) 01:43, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

7-Rooms of Gloom

Hi! Just one question: what is wrong with covers section on the "7-Rooms of Gloom" page? I guess i'm not getting something

Where to start.....WP:SONGCOVER details just what should be included in any song article. Please read and ask if you need more clarification.--Egghead06 (talk) 19:44, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

I guess the link to doscogs.com doesn't meet "discussed by a reliable source". However, the song was released by a notable band on different albums. Doesn't that meet WP:NSONGS? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twistandshout28 (talkcontribs) 17:47, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

WP:SONGCOVERs requirement is that "the rendition is discussed by a reliable source on the subject of the song". A listing on Discogs is not a discussion on the rendition as it doesn't discuss the rendition at all.--Egghead06 (talk) 04:19, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

I get the thing "discussed by a reliable sourse", as i wrote before. WP:SONGCOVER also redirects to WP:NSONGS where is a criteria "Has been independently released as a recording by several notable artists, bands, or groups" and as i wrote before the song was released by a notable band. Twistandshout28 (talk) 09:59, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

There is another thing that i would like to hear your opinion about. Many song articles have a list of artists who recorded and/or released a cover version of the song. A simple who/when/what release list. Most of those covers don't have "discussion by a reliable sourse" at all, however the covers section still exist. And they are quite usefull if i would like to know more about the song and it's history. If i'm following your logic this all have to be cut and you have to find the list of cover yourself anywhere else. Correct me if i'm wrong as i'm really looking forward for your answer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twistandshout28 (talkcontribs) 09:54, 13 July 2013 (UTC) Twistandshout28 (talk) 09:59, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Maybe you can decide for yourself if you can get to grips with the difference between a song being notable as 7 Rooms of Gloom is and a particular rendition being notable and discussed by reliable sources. Hopefully all will then be clear.--Egghead06 (talk) 20:29, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

I'm through with this nonsense. Of course the reader (listener) can judge for his/her self. I have to quote somebody else's research? Of course it's original research. Blériot Memorial

Maybe at this point you would consider taking and uploading a picture of the Blériot Memorial without the bicycle handlebars? That joke's past its best before date by now. Awien (talk) 19:44, 28 July 2013 (UTC) (adds) On the other hand, if you're not in Dover but New Zealand, that might be a tall order . . . Awien (talk) 19:46, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Ah yes the handlebars! Surprisingly when I took this picture I did not actually register that these were handlebars and only realised when it was pointed out when I uploaded it. Sorry, won't be able to retake this pic because, as you point out, I am currently in New Zealand and doubt I will be back in the UK for at least a year! Maybe someone could Photoshop them out?--Egghead06 (talk) 20:11, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
No doubt - but that ain't me! I'll see if I can think of anyone.
I also apologise. I thought it was your joke, not an accident that you perpetuated unwittingly. I was doing you an injustice!

You have been asked to update the time stamp. You choose not to comply. I add them.--Egghead06 (talk) 21:21, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

If I don't edit 75% of the pages, nobody else does.

That's why I don't edit the Derby, Burnley and Hull's Irish contingent's pages, because I know other users do promptly.

Please stop edit warring. You only put a timestamp on Joey O'Brien's page after I had already updated it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.143.77 (talk) 21:24, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Simply because you did your usual of not doing the stamp correctly. I did it for you. You seem to take an odd did like to these time stamps? These are in the instructions on how to update the info box you know?--Egghead06 (talk) 21:30, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Take a look at John O'Shea's page. Locked because I updated it correctly every week and it still has 31 August 2013 down as his last match. Get your priorities in check. I am not vandalising anything. Putting 21 September as the date of a match that happened on 21 September is not vandalising and is surely preferable to having a timestamp that is months out of date.

All of this is clearly done out of spite anyways. As I said, you only come crawling out of the woodwork after I update a page. Loads of other pages are incorrect and have borderline litigious information written on them. Maybe spend your time constructively working on that instead of throwing your weight around over an arbitrary "timestamp". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.143.77 (talk) 21:46, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

I have no weight on Wiki. There is a correct way to update the time stamp and others ways. You are choosing your own route and have been asked and banned before. No doubt you will continue in the same way, as will I.--Egghead06 (talk) 21:55, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Word to the wise, you guys – you are edit-warring. At Stephen Dawson (for example) you are both on the point of breaking WP:3RR. Whatever the dispute is, and it looks pretty lame, don't let it get you both blocked. Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:53, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
thanks but believe this user is 3. of WP:NOT3RR - an exception.--Egghead06 (talk) 23:00, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
You'd have to prove that before using it as a good reason to break 3RR. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:22, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Seriously? Just look at the edit history for Stephen Dawson and see this user was banned only a few days ago. I'll leave them inaccurate if you think the inclusion of the time stamp is lame.--Egghead06 (talk) 23:29, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
I see. Why not just report this IP for block evasion? That would be a whole lot easier, no? I do think the timestamp is pointless and not worth warring over, but I wouldn't remove it either. I suggest logging the IP at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, clarifying that it's the sock of the blocked IP, giving the details. Looks open and shut. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:43, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

thanks, I have, he's bannedEgghead06 (talk) 02:48, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
He was rather persistent, wasn't he? I reported two of his IPs, both now blocked, and some (at least) of the articles are now protected. Hopefully that'll keep him quiet-ish. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:32, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Ish is right. He has had some issue with timestamps for maybe a couple of years now, he won't give up now!!--Egghead06 (talk) 21:27, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

I like working with you on our rivalry article. I'd say we should push for it to get good article status, but we'd need to reference the hell out of it and not everything on the page can be referenced, even if it is a fact (ie, it's not on the web and can't be linked to - we'd lose a lot of the results and stats sections.) The history section needs a big overhaul too, to cover the entire history. Weirdly, for one of the most vitriolic rivalries in the world, there's very few great sources! BillyBatty (talk) 20:17, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Sure, will do. Think this is a good idea and have often thought this would be a great subject for a real book. Not only for the history buffs but for those who like the 'aggro' side. Will see what I can did up in the way of good references.--Egghead06 (talk) 20:37, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
BTW Don't see a game on 17 September 1906 but have one in 1904.--Egghead06 (talk) 20:45, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
Write the book on it and then we can source you! hah. When I made that full list of results list, I sourced nearly everything from Millwall: The Complete Record by Eddie Tarrant, which had just come out and was officially endorsed by the club and their historians. I checked against that West Ham stats site, and both listed the same exact results, yours was incomplete tho. Didn't include Western League (that 17 9 1906 game was WL - pg 276, and you're right. a SL game was played on that same date in 1904 - pg 272.) I'd really like to get the exact date of the first ever friendly meeting. I couldn't find anything earlier than that FA Cup tie in 1899 for competitive games. The 1897 friendly I found was from a West Ham source, which I cannot seem to refind! It's funny because a couple of newspapers have published stuff we've put on the wiki as fact, so obviously they're not as fussy about their references as us. BillyBatty (talk) 00:02, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Do you know anything about the Millwall game mentioned in Thames Ironworks F.C.#1895-1896? It's not sourced, like the other first meeting I found, but it predates it. BillyBatty (talk) 17:00, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
John Powles, Iron In The Blood mentions it as a review of the 1895/6 season. 14 December 1895 Ironworks 0-6 Millwall Reserves. They played later on the same season (24 April 1896 score 1-1) Says on the same day Millwall first team won 9-1 v Swindon Town to win the Southern League.--Egghead06 (talk) 19:15, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Ah, excellent. I was looking for that book online. Glad you have it. I have the Swindon game as 25 April 1896, but yeah. The first team wouldn't play two games in two days. Does your book confirm the 23 September 1897 2-0 game was Millwall's first team? Might be worth mentioning the 6-0 as it seems to be first documented meeting between the clubs, a newly formed Thames Ironworks met Millwall's reserves, but keep it in the context of a reserve game, much like all the Wartime games. Well done - think as with all of these articles you get to a point where someone else needs to provide some fresh input. As a first stab as a layman I would question the use of "vicious enemies" in the opening para (needs toning down) and the word "fortress" in the para about the Fenton's. We know what it means but would a layman? Also think our work here should be moved to the article Talkpage so will do this later.--Egghead06 (talk) 18:58, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Dude, your revert for the Ian Wright scoring record is incorrect. He scored 185 goals in 289 games. It is a statistical fact and not up for debate. The other team stats are similarly wrong- apparently somebody confused league goals with total goals. I am going to resume fixing it. Cheers Batchuba (talk) 19:01, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Indeed, I just noticed that asterisk. But you don't agree on the ludicrous insanity of randomly only including domestic league games in his main info box, while his England B career is there? So England B counts but Champions league and FA Cup doesn't? That is ridiculous of course. So, indeed it is only his league games, but it most certainly should not be. It is preposterous and random to have it so in his main career box. His domestic league record can have its own box if needed further down. That is his MAIN info box. An yes, soccerbase is the site I already use. Batchuba (talk) 19:13, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
Not for me to say how crazy it is but you might like to discuss it here for a wider discussion and it would be via this talkpage that any change could be made.--Egghead06 (talk) 19:20, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
Well that is where I will go, cheers. And yes it is, as the apparent page guardian, for you to acknowledge that your time is being wasted reverting edits to a fundamentally wrong headed piece of idiocy. You possess a brain surely, and so you can see the stupidity of the system. Nevertheless, I will take it to the appropriate page to discuss this tiny, surprisingly enraging quirk of fathomless idiocy. Cheers Batchuba (talk) 19:45, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
Good luck! And by the way I am not Wrighty's guardian. His page is just one of many (probably too many) pages on my watchlist--Egghead06 (talk) 19:53, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Referee appointments

Hello mate, I saw you reverted a West Ham 2013–14 season article edit and left an edit summary - Who knows who the ref "was"?

The Premier League publishes referee appointments, so it is possible to know who's going to officiate a match before it's played. Happy Christmas! JMHamo (talk) 17:32, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

I am aware of such a list, however in a encyclopedic article the only entry should be after the event. Who knows if a ref is taken ill, hit by a tree or the FA changes its mind. Like scores, only when the match is done should the entries be made.--Egghead06 (talk) 18:16, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
Yes, you're right of course, good point. Happy Christmas! JMHamo (talk) 23:53, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Billy Mehmet

Hi, I keep changing Billy Mehmet's wikipedia page to the newest club, but you keep changing it back. I do not know how to use wikipedia properly such as putting in links etc, but I can guarantee he has left Dempo and has signed with Kedah FA in the Malaysian Premier League. Please check Kedah FA Twitter/Facebook and you will see. He is also on their squad roster. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.252.209 (talk) 09:48, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Please read WP:Citing Sources for details on how to add reliable sources to articles. Facebook is not a reliable source simply because anyone can write any old junk on Facebook. Thanks.--Egghead06 (talk) 18:16, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Just to let you know I am the players agent and he has signed with them. The team itself only uses social media such as twitter and Facebook. You can see further details from official sites such as goal.com

I cannot believe every time the page gets edited you are changing. If you go to Kedah FA youtube channel you will see pre games he has played for them.

This is a joke. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.206.194.214 (talk) 20:12, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

As above, if you read WP:Citing sources you will see how to add reliable references to articles. You cannot seriously expect to add material without citing sources or to have someone do it for you and that is no joke. If you are not prepared to learn then it is unlikely your contributions will amount to much. There are also many sources of help. Just ask.--Egghead06 (talk) 20:18, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Have you read WP:Citing sources?--Egghead06 (talk) 20:23, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Transfermarkt is NOT a reliable source as it is user written. I.E. anyone can write anything as per Facebook. Any source needs to go in the article, not here!--Egghead06 (talk) 20:22, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Transfer market is a site that receives it's information via FIFA and UEFA. Any transfers are recorded on transfer market. If you type in Billy Mehmet Medah into google you will see for yourself. Hello EGGHEAD06 -

These are links to the Keda FA wikidpedia page and the Malaysian FA page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kedah_FA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia_Premier_League

If you look at the Kedah FA page you can see he is listed on the roster.

On the Malaysian Premier League Page you can see that he is listed as a foreign player.

You will be able to see who the edits were done by.

...for the addition of the performance chart on The Hammers page. Let me know if you're interested in any other clubs that could use a chart. My latest obsession is creating those charts for non-"Big Four" clubs (Norwich and Birmingham City are two of the latest beneficiaries). Rivalry

What have we got ourselves into with this FA attempt? It's neverending and our references are all dubious! Arghhhhh. I tried my best to weed out the ones he won't like in the final two columns, but I just know it's gonna be another long list. BillyBatty (talk) 23:08, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Have to say I admire your tenacity. My problem with these things is that they are subjective. Reviewer A says don't like this. So you change it and reviewer B says, no don't like that. If these was a list of 500 things to do you could work through it there isn't and it seems like a moving target and anyone's guess as to what is an acceptable reference. Still in the name of the ICF and the Bushwackers, I'm sure we can beat 'em.--Egghead06 (talk) 23:46, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
We come this far, no way am I just gonna give up. This reference thing is the last hurdle. I find it weird that journos who have no knowledge of the subject are held in such high regard, and fan run westhamstats and millwall-archive sites have to be removed. Luckily most things can be supported in the couple of books I have. If I had a West Ham book on your past players, I could remove all the 'dubious' stuff, and reference exact pages, but I'm not that dedicated (or nutty!) BillyBatty (talk) 02:44, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Well said - "stanhhnd yer grahnnd"......--Egghead06 (talk) 02:59, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
even crazier when I know the people who compile Westhamstats and guess who does the stats, on this day and history stuff for WHUFC? You guessed it, the same folk. Or do they think Big Sam or Karren Brady write the club website? --Egghead06 (talk) 02:53, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
in a nutshell, what West Ham stuff needs referencing? I have dozens of books.--Egghead06 (talk) 02:53, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
That is crazy, but then I think half of these reviewers are crazy with their differing opinions! If you have a players section/database in your books, we just need page references for Bowes, Landells, Reader, Philips and Stewart (I added the Millwall side for most of those.) If the books are already in the bibliography, use the short cite thing. It's much easier. And only if he doesn't like the Sporting Heroes reference, Goddard and Gordon. All other refs seem to be BBC or Mail, which they seem to love. BillyBatty (talk) 13:22, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Another Wiki oddity then as there are many who say tabloid refs (which includes the Mail) should not be used as they are unreliable - Oh well! Have done Goddard, Gordon, Bowes, Landells, Phillips and Willie Stewart. Reader is a problem. He was only a WHU youth player so not in any books. He is noted here in the early rounds of the 1959 FA Youth Cup. But that is a user written site. Don't know what Millwall career he had (he is a redlink on Wiki) but so far am drawing a blank on good refs for him.--Egghead06 (talk) 19:57, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
If we didn't have tabloid stuff, half the article would be gone! Yeah, Reader is annoying. He only played one game for us in 61-62, but it was first-team so he's in the book. If he was in any of those newspaper clippings on that site, could've cited that as the work, but he's only mentioned in the user written parts. Oh well! Cheers for that! I can't see any 'dubious' refs at all now, only the fans survey opinion and the one for the programme, but I can't find that photo anywhere else online. It'd be rubbish to have to remove that. Might try and find alternative images, early ones from last century so they fall outside copyright. BillyBatty (talk) 20:40, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
John Powles - Iron In The Blood - has the image on page 79.--Egghead06 (talk) 20:56, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Perfect! Cheers. Replaced the census ref, there's another books that mention the fans rivalry. The Spaaij book is free to read in google books too. Ok. I won't tinker anymore. Let's see what he comes back with! BillyBatty (talk) 21:23, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
I've no more to add now. I also have all the hooli books from Cass Pennant, Bill Gardner, etc if that needs anymore reffing. They have a lot to say on the rivalry! Best it is left now to appear 'stable'.--Egghead06 (talk) 21:41, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
They archived it right at the final stage. Unbelievable. Millwall, West Ham and this topic and not loved. We are not Arsenal or Man Utd. If you look at their FA reviews they didn't have to jump through all these hoops. Our 'clumsy phrases' were mostly written by other reviewers during copy edits. Can't win. I say you re-nominate it as soon as its allowed. All we need is to finish the source review and appease the clumsiness. We can't get run by this mob!! BillyBatty (talk) 05:15, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Find their attitude unhelpful. Tell us the clumsy phrases and we'll fix them. Also shocked to see the FAC final say is in the hands of 3 editors only. No doubt they are clever folk but do they have any knowledge of the subject matter in this case. Note they write articles on Stravinsky and viruses so maybe not. Not suggesting intellectual snobbery on their part for one moment though!! Can you not nominate it again then?--Egghead06 (talk) 05:23, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
We satisfied one of the three head honchos, Ian Rose and then the other one just shows his head and shuts it down out of nowhere. Don't quite understand it. Especially as one of the phrases he changed was suggested by a reviewer. How do you satisfy such subjectiveness?! The source reviewer Brian also has his Profumo affair article promoted to FA very quickly and doesn't complete the rest of our review (in over a week). I asked him to just now. There's rules on how many articles you can nominate and in what timespan, but as a heavy contributor to the article, I think you qualify to nominate. Just have to wait for the FAC thing to be gone from the talkpage. Just stating it may needs minor tweaks to the prose and the finished source review. I mean, cmon. The article is almost spotless! BillyBatty (talk) 05:39, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Let's see what they say to your questions because I don't think at the moment they are acting in the spirit of collaboration which Wiki is supposed to hold as important. --Egghead06 (talk) 06:07, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Have read some of their replies. Have to wonder at the statement by the editor who closed the discussion which said criticism would come back on those who promoted this as it stood. What for some so-call "clumsy sentences"!? Awaiting the other reviewer now.......--Egghead06 (talk) 19:45, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
Yes, "errors remain". He doesn't respond to my diplomatic approach and ask for his help at identifying the errors, but gives a reply to some other guy who is a regular in the featured articles clique. Hardly encouraging for first time nominators. Seemed just like an excuse to archive it. There are no major issues with the article. A few words here and there that could be worded better, granted, but he could've pointed those out like every other reviewer. We didn't fail at any of their four criteria for closing an article. "Actionable objections have not been resolved" - you can't resolve objections that only exist in the coordinators head. He pointed one out, which you fixed promptly. This experience will definitely impact how much I contribute to wikipedia in the future. BillyBatty (talk) 01:53, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
Seems an odd area of Wiki. No discussion, no wider consensus sought from other editors and it all goes on the say of three autocrats. All very 1984.
As to how much I contribute. I've always told myself Wiki must be fun. I don't have to do it. It is not a job. If I want to edit I will as long as I enjoy it. If I find myself in this sort of situation, or discussing if Freddie Sears is 5ft 8 or 5ft 7.5 or the exact shade of beige to use in a template header, I move onto something more enjoyable that I find interesting where I've probably used some clumsy sentences!! Don't consider this monination finished yet. Best leave it awhile and I/we can re-nominate it.--Egghead06 (talk) 04:12, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, you're right. Wikipedia is their life and we are only part timers. Let them get on with it. I'd rather argue on football forums than with professors and Shostakovich fanboys. I won't nom it again, but if you want to again in a few weeks, I'll back you with whatever changes need making. BillyBatty (talk) 05:33, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Any ideas just which sentences they don't like? My English is good enough but I've no degree in it nor have I ever worked in a job where it needed to be of expert level. Also I am prone to write run-away sentences so If you have any idea which ones they don't like they can be changed. --Egghead06 (talk) 05:55, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
I'm no dunce either, but am much better at creative English. I find it hard to write like an encyclopedic robot as they require. I believe we, and the other reviewers managed to weed out most of the 'football speak' they hate. Looking at other featured articles they like big words and a lot of ; and :. I tried to tighten the history section, but Graham is right. We are too close to the source material and need a fresh pair of eyes to do a proper job. We only need minimal changes. Do you know anyone in the english football portal that might help? Mattythewhite types, who you see editing every football page. I'd ask the Luton Town bloke, but 1985 Kenilworth Road riot gets in the way! BillyBatty (talk) 13:00, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. I was especially thinking about IP vandal 95.44 you reverted several times. QED237 (talk) 22:29, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

yes thanks. I'm aware of these but find it just too frustrating. Without admin status all I can do is warn. Seems pointless to me to warn without the ability to follow through and ban. But thanks anyway.--Egghead06 (talk) 22:32, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Your reversion at Glossary of association football terms

Mazy run is used in several articles here, cf: George Best and is jargon that must be explained. Huw Powell (talk) 02:25, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Please do so then with a reliable and verifiable source. The Afd for Mazy run which you closed advised as much.--Egghead06 (talk) 02:34, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:06, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

West Ham

Hello Egghead06, could you tell me why you reverted my contribution of Steve Harris as an important and avid West Ham United fan? It is fine with me, no harm done, I am just curious about your motivations. I thought it was relevant and it is not uncommon to mention famous fans in the Netherlands, so therfore I am curious where the inconsistancy comes to the play. Cheers!--Ravahe (talk) 13:33, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

I am more than happy to explain my reasoning. Within the West Ham United article you will see a link to West Ham United F.C. supporters. Within this there is this. All the notable names are here so rather than fill up the West Ham article (from which some of these names were originally moved) there is an article dedicated to supporters. Guess I reckoned this info was best placed in only one place - the article on supporters. - Hope this helps explain. --Egghead06 (talk) 18:41, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, excellent! Sorry I looked it over and thanks for you explanation. --Ravahe (talk) 14:22, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Shanghai'd in Shanghai

In response to your question "What exactly does notability aside mean?" I provided the source that answered that question, but you apparently didn't read it. The basis is there to redirect the song article to the album article. Constantly reverting amounts to thumbing your nose at the guidelines. Caper454 (talk) 19:07, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Having been editing for many years, of course I have read it. The stub for this CHARTING song provides lyrics, personnel, chart position verification, its sequence in the groups hits, the producer etc.. Yes it's a stub but we are trying to grow an encyclopedia. Your constant petulant reversal of my edits are counter productive. You add nothing.--Egghead06 (talk) 06:25, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry you feel that following the rules is "petulent". The song only just by the thinnest measure meets notability guidelines, but as the guidelines state this alone isn't enough to warrant a standalone article when there is virtually zero information of any significance in the article. I mean, do you really believe that listing the band personnel sufficiently rounds out a song article....a song that didn't even crack the top 40? You criticize me for "adding nothing" but what have you added? Looks like nothing from my point of view. And one more thing: this article was previously (and correctly) redirected back in October 2011‎ and stood until you reverted it without explanation a few weeks ago. So there is a precedent there. You seem to be letting personal feelings cloud your judgement. Caper454 (talk) 12:20, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Did I say following rules was petulant ? Do I know you? No, so how do you know my personal feelings? You are welcome to your view. Either it passes notability or it doesn't - fat or thin. It passes and your attitude is not one which helps grow an encylopedia. --Egghead06 (talk) 13:26, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
And please check the article history again. Your statement above is incorrect.--Egghead06 (talk) 13:49, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Adding a couple of categories doesn't elevate an article to non-stub status by any means, nor does it effect notability. Caper454 (talk) 13:58, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
No it doesn't but that isn't what happened now is it? But then you knew that!--Egghead06 (talk) 14:00, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Now you're just being cryptic. Could you be a bit more concise? Caper454 (talk) 14:07, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
I see now you are also canvassing to get you own way. You do know any notifications of this sort are supposed to be neutral now don't you?--Egghead06 (talk) 14:47, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Discogs is not a reliable source

Hi. Just letting you know that Discogs is absolutely not a reliable source for Wikipedia. It is user edited with no editorial oversight. Per WP:RS, this makes it not reliable at all. See this discussion, which confirms its unreliability. Please refrain from re-adding it to articles. Thank you. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 17:04, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Result and penalties

Hi, here are the links you asked for

  1. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 84#Include penalties in result or dont? (i.e. footballbox collapsible)
  2. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 52#Draws with penalties...

I am sure there are more if you need them. QED237 (talk) 19:17, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. Seems odd to draw a cup game but if that's what was agreed on.....nothing noted on this is the instructions on how to use footballbox collapsible though?--Egghead06 (talk) 19:26, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
No problem, I understand it can be confusing. It is all depending on how you view the shoot-out, if it is part of the game or not. The consensus seem to be match has ended and the penalties are to decide who goes through. No I dont think there are info in the template documentation so perhaps the information needs to be added. Perhaps you are not fully aware of the situation. Alan Pardew is the pre-eminent philosopher and social theorist, in addition to being the greatest footballing brain since Brian Clough. Alan Pardew quite simply, knows what he is doing.

You do not.

If you make a change on a page and it is reverted (with an explanation) can you please discuss it on the talk page rather than just reverting. WP:BRD sums this up. The 'Greatest Hits' album that you decided was a compilation is an album recorded and released in 1972 and produced wholly by Prince Buster. Roots Archives is a much better source for reggae albums than discogs.com and it is not listed there as a compilation. There were several reggae studio albums released in the 1970s with titles suggesting they were compilations as a marketing ploy. --Michig (talk) 18:23, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Not really a case of "I decided". Compilations don't just have to be greatest hits. There are many definitions given at Compilation album and by your own description of this album if fits the compilation description.--Egghead06 (talk) 19:39, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
No it doesn't. The albums listed in the article are studio albums and exclude retrospective compilations. This particlular album is not a compilation any more than the vast majority of Jamaican reggae albums released in that era. Discuss next time rather than reverting please. --Michig (talk) 20:07, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
Believe you have added the word retrospective to this discussion. No it isn't retrospective but it is a work which has been put together, of compositions not original to Holt, for the purposes of a album - i.e. compiled. --Egghead06 (talk) 07:25, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
"Not original to Holt"? I'm guessing you don't know much about Jamaican music from that era. This album is completely different to the dozens of 'best of' albums released through Holt's career. All albums are compiled from tracks - it's a bit of a specious argument. --Michig (talk) 07:32, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Think the clue is in the title. Greatest Hits - Holts greatest hits - no. Get Ready, Bacharach and David's Rain From the Skies, If I Ruled the World etc - other artists hits in a compilation.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:05, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
No, as I have already explained, the clue is not in the title. It contains some cover versions - that doesn't make it a compilation. --Michig (talk) 19:35, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi there EH, this is former user ALWAYSLEARNING here,

I don't know if your summary here (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Adri%C3%A1n_(footballer)&diff=631580421&oldid=631542735) was directed at me after I first used the word "appalling" in my previous one (here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Adri%C3%A1n_(footballer)&diff=631542138&oldid=631076366), but I'm 99,9999% sure it is, also due to the fact I reworded your intro with that edit.

However, my comment on what I (wrongly) perceived as appalling was directed at the late part of his club career, written by user KIERAN167, nowhere and/or in no way were you mentioned in said summary of mine, so what gives? I do admit, again: the usage of that word was highly exaggerated on my part, you, me and Kieran are all trying to do our best here.

Judan Ali introduces Professional Football to Taiwan in 2014 for the first time

[1][2][1][1]==Taiwan== The statement "His most recent appointment is as Head of Elite Football and player development in Taiwan" is unsourced and has been removed. A reference has been added but this does not mention Ali (It does mention Ali as in Judan Ali please check the article more in depth and more importantly, is from a rolling news service showing most recent news. Any info shown today will have 'rolled out of sight' in a few weeks. Please provide a reference which can be verified from a reliable source --Egghead06 (talk) 19:51, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

I would like to point out that the article is in chinese print however if you look closely Judan Ali is written in English amongst the text.

Please can you re read and contact me regarding the outcome.

Thank You

It would be helpful if you could sign your requests and explain where I can look. [1][2][1][1] does not provide me with a source? Thanks.--Egghead06 (talk) 07:27, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

if you look at the article of the source, the name Judan Ali appears in English text Thanks --Section45

Again, please sign your posts and provide me with a source (ie an HTTP address). "Article of the source" is unhelpful. Thanks. --Egghead06 (talk) 07:01, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

so this article link of the official website for the CTFA isn't sufficient? If not then please can this matter be resolved and closed? Please see Judan Ali name is written in English amongst the chinese characters, two times throughout the article.

Yes I have done, so is this now resolved and can we close the matter so the page looks tidy for the person Judan Ali? --Section45

You will need to add reliable sources and you might like to read WP:SELFSOURCE. Thanks.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:02, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

I am a little confused how to go about this? Please could you help and tidy this up i would appreciate this? --Section45

Sure - you must first establish the notable (ie non trivial) aspect you wish to add. This should be accompanied by a reliable source which is verifiable. Instructions on how to add sources is here. Hope this helps.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:52, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

I have nothing further to add, please can this matter be closed so that the page appears tidy with no conflicts or issues appear on entering Judan Ali into wikipedia? Thank You --Section45

Please let me know if you require any further help adding the material you require.--Egghead06 (talk) 07:26, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

I do not wish to add any materials. I would like to know if you can help "clean up' the following so the below doesn't appear on the wikipedia page of Judan Ali?

This article has multiple issues. Please help improve it or discuss these issues on the talk page. A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. (September 2014) This article's lead section may not adequately summarize key points of its contents. (August 2013)

--Section45

Believe it is a fair statement that the lead does not cover the main points. You may like to add these. This article also has a history of contributors closely linked to the subject adding material, unless you wish to challenge this?--Egghead06 (talk) 08:38, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Apologies but i am not following you? why is the above statement reading this? all the sources have been verified that are currently on Judan Alis wikipedia page... no? isn't this a generic statement placed by wikipedia? can this not be removed? I assumed the statement "Judan Ali introduces professional football to Taiwan" was in question? If it is then I am the person as yo every well know added this to this. Which I accept needs to be removed as the source does not meet the requirement? --Section45

WP:LEAD and WP:COI explain why these tags would be added.--Egghead06 (talk) 07:52, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Doneil Henry

Thanks for getting in touch, but the changes I made to the article are accurate. Henry moved to West Ham United as of today, December 22nd, 2014. Here is the prove http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/canadian-defender-henry-has-work-permit-approved-for-move-to-west-ham/ . I have never seen a citation for updating a players club. Please give me a hand or at least allow me to provide updated information on this player. I see that there is a West Ham United blurb in the body of this page, with a citation. So, I would appreciate it if I'd be allowed to make changes as well. Thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BNwokachoke (talkcontribs) 08:35, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

It happens in stages!. As the article says "Doneil Henry is about to join". He has not yet joined. He has had a work permit granted and West Ham's manager says it is all going to plan. However, the transfer window does not open until 1/1/15 and thus he has not completed the move just yet. Plenty of time to add back in with sources when/if he does. Cheers.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:39, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Sealed with a Kiss

Hi! I see you removed this image from this article (diff). Is there any particular reason or you just made a mistake? Vanjagenije (talk) 23:53, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

The diff you quote dates right back to 3 December and includes many edits which I know nothing about. Mine is here and removes non-notable covers as per WP:SONGCOVER.--Egghead06 (talk) 06:50, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Excuse me, please. It was not you who removed the image. Sorry, my mistake. Vanjagenije (talk) 13:03, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks & agreed but may come in useful fairly soon!

Btw would you know how I could find out why File:Archbishop-lawrence-booth.jpg is inaccessible for uploading in foreign Wikis?

Thanks again & if you can advise it would be much appreciated. M

I'm no expert on these things but would it have anything to do with it being only on the English language Wiki and not on Wiki Commons?--Egghead06 (talk) 13:57, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Category: Footballers from Greater London

Hi, Quick question re above category. Does this apply to those born before the creation of the GLC/GLA (1965) in those areas which fell within its authority thereafter? For example David Payne, born in Thornton Heath (1947), then, Croydon Corporation (not LCC) now, part of London Borough of Croydon. I added the Cat. but then thought it may not be right. Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 20:15, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I think this whole area is in a bit of a mess. Footballers have been added into categories for places which did not exist in their lifetimes but where their birthplace is now in the new area quoted. e.g Category:Footballers from Newham (London borough) where East Ham was in Essex but now in Newham. I have been adding players into the category for the place where their birthplace is now. Others don't agree and the categories are up for deletion/merge (like the one given above). In short, I don't know but it is up for discussion.--Egghead06 (talk) 18:06, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I think I agree with your approach; those born within the London Boroughs, as they are now, to be included, DoB notwithstanding, but as you say it's a grey area. Will await outcome of discussions before adding any other pages. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 19:58, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello, whoever the compiler is (including you or me) Wikepedia needs reliable sources which can be verified by readers. This can be books, newspapers (not tabloids) or other reliable sources. These do not include Facebook or blogs or fanzines. Thanks.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:42, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Northern Soul (Film) - Reception Citation Help

Hi Egghead06,

I am writing to you in regards to your message that we need to add citation to verify that the film Northern Soul had a warm reception from the public and critics alike.

We thought that the Press column below containing links to some of the national press would be evidence enough to substantiate the comment as if you look through all of the national press, including features on the BBC News & ITV's Good Morning Britain where they are discussing the high public demand for the film, escalating the screening numbers from between 6-8 screens to over 100; not to mention the 4* reviews from papers such as The Guardian, The Times, The Independent & The Metro to name a few, we're a little baffled as to what more evidence we need in order to prove the nature of the comment.

Could you please advise on how we make this fact?

We also have an email from Demon Music who released the soundtrack which gives a detailed account of the chart positioning of the CD, but as far as we are aware there is not a site to refer to.

Could also please advise how we can substantiate this fact also?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Many thanks.

Adrián (footballer)

Hi there again EGGHEAD, from Portugal,

regarding my changes here that concern your edits, the following: I re-added the spacings in intro because of the specifications of the mentioned introduction, you start by saying where he plays currently, then you summarize his career. Hence I think "He started his career at Betis..." should be separated from his current state of affairs.

Of course, if you remove the spacings again, i'll have to accept that as part of the perennial WP teamwork and leave it be. Was only trying to help, as you of course.

About the expletive (in no way directed at you of course), this guy User:Umberto Bottura/User:Bruno corinthiano is a lost battle, he vandalizes what he wants (in Adrián he removed the first youth club just because, the ballclub Altair is clearly referenced in the source #3) and has thousands (literally) of anon IPs, starting with 186. I get as many as I can blocked with the invaluable help of User:Mattythewhite, not much in view of what the vandal can pull off...

Attentively --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:18, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

  • I apologize if my last summary was a bit out of order, but I am feeling a bit frustrated that you won't discuss contents with me, I have already apologized for past wrongdoings. Discussing contents now: I have browsed the Spanish web, and found no evidence of him being loaned to those two sides. If you take at least this match report (please see here http://hemeroteca.mundodeportivo.com/preview/2008/03/23/pagina-35/566950/pdf.html#, read below Betis B-Mérida), you'll see that, in MARCH 2008, Adrián was still part of Betis B's squad, as P.S. ("portero suplente", meaning "reserve goalkeeper"). Maybe West Ham's profile has it wrong?

I also see that you have removed my reference to those clubs being amateur, sorry was not trying to impose anything and/or destroy your work, but at least Utrera was/is 100% amateur. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:36, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure we are in a position to question the validity of the West Ham club website. It is a reliable source. As the clubs being amateur, I suspect they both are but with a supporting reference we cannot say. The Spanish Wiki has a page for the Utrere club, by the way.--Egghead06 (talk) 06:49, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Sure, I see your point (West Ham being a 100% reliable source), but please see this example I brought forth at WP:FOOTY (here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#Info_mix-up.3F). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:05, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Wish I could help but I am not in a position to disprove the West Ham website without any reliable contradictory evidence.--Egghead06 (talk) 17:46, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
