Margo’s Got Money Troubles is an upcoming American television series based on an adaption by David E. Kelley from the Rufi Thorpe novel of the same name. It is produced by Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, who star.
Premise
editMargo’s Got Money Troubles centers on Margo Millet, whose tumultuous journey unfolds as the daughter of a Hooters waitress and a former professional wrestler. After an affair with her junior college English professor leaves her pregnant, Margo turns to OnlyFans to support herself. Reconnecting with her estranged father, who shares wisdom gleaned from his wrestling days, Margo achieves remarkable success on OnlyFans.[1][2]

editIn October 2023, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that Nicole Kidman, along with siblings Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning, will also serve as executive producers for the adaptation of the 2024 novel Margo’s Got Money Troubles.[5]
In February 2024, it was reported that Apple TV+ outbid several other companies, including Netflix, to secure the rights to the series based on Rufi Thorpe’s forthcoming book.[1][2] David E. Kelley Productions’ David E. Kelley, Matthew Tinker; Lewellen Pictures’ Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward; and Blossom Films’ Kidman and Per Saari were set to executive produce alongside author Rufi Thorpe.[6][7] Later, Eva Anderson was updated as one of executive producers.[8][9]
In September 2024, Michelle Pfeiffer joined the cast and took on an expanded role as an executive producer.[10] This series marked the first collaboration between Pfeiffer and her husband, David E. Kelley.[11]
Casting
editIn February 2024, Kidman was set to co-star with Fanning, who portrayed the main character Margo, the daughter of a Hooters waitress and a professional wrestler.[12] In September 2024, Michelle Pfeiffer joined the cast as Shyanne, Margo's mother.[4] In October 2024, Nick Offerman was reported to star as Jinx, Margo's father.[3]
