Villa Maria and Ville Marie
editThe article says "Although some people believe the name is Latin for Ville Marie, which was Montreal's original name when first settled, it actually translates to "House of Mary"." Could the person who wrote this explain it a little? Villa in Latin is the same as Ville in French; they both mean "town of Mary". Villa in English can also mean a country estate, but if that is what Villa means in Villa Maria, rather than "ville Marie", is this a specific Mary meant? etc. thanks. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 22:49, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
- @Richardson mcphillips: That is not cited and sounds confusing. I will remove it. Nerd271 (talk) 15:06, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
