DANFS
editThere's a rather nice DANFS article on the BI that could be merged here. Busy with the Haskell's at the moment, or I'd do it.--J Clear 22:36, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Dubious POW account
editThis article currently states:
- Survivors of the Block Island and U-549 were carried to the U.S. from Casablanca aboard the USS Tulagi. One officer of the Tulagi, C. E. McOmber, often told the story of guards on the Tulagi being armed with machine guns. They warned the U-549 survivors the guards were stationed to protect them from the Block Island sailors.
The USS Eugene E. Elmore (DE-686) article and the U-549 article both have a citation stating there were no survivors of the U-boat's sinking. [1]
