Split proposal
editThis list is getting awfully long and would most likely work better separated by decade or by election terms. Google Chrome takes 12 seconds to load this page, according to users at WP:DISCORD. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 01:39, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Note: A category also exists. See Category:Lists of members of the Lok Sabha by term. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 01:52, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Jd22292: If this list is going to stick around, one suggestion for lowering the technical size would be to move party to the first column, sort by it, and rowspan. This will remove a massive amount of redundant information, and can be supplemented with a TOC to each party's first row. -- ferret (talk) 13:45, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- The page is a mess. It would make sense to divide it into separate pages for the members in each specific Lok Sabha (15th Lok Sabha, etc). -- Ajraddatz (talk) 22:59, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- I agree. This page could be retained as a disambiguated version leading to the sub pages. Lourdes 02:06, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- Of course, pages already exist for 13th–16th Lok Sabha, i.e. 15th Lok Sabha was linked in this discussion. It would be presumed that the other 12 pages would need to be created first. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 02:51, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

- Yes, I noted in the deletion discussion that this list should be split into separate lists for each session; that would be much more valuable than this. The impression I got, however, was that the issue that led to the discussion was that nobody was actually taking on the job of doing it — which is not to say that deletion of the list without splitting it first would be appropriate, but just to say that at some point somebody has to be willing to actually take it on. I don't know if I'm the right guy, because I'm not hugely knowledgeable about Indian politics, but I'd certainly be willing to assist with some aspects. Bearcat (talk) 05:55, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'm a bit busy at the moment, but would be glad to do or help do this in the coming days. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 06:17, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
I also support breaking this table into separate lists by section. Its a logical means of sorting, and it won't require us to constantly edit pre-existing sub-lists as new members of the Lok Sabha are elected. I'm currently incredibly busy with finals, so I don't have much time to implement the changes myself. Also, pinging Soman to receive input. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 00:39, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- It could also be split by state. bd2412 T 17:03, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
@Jd22292: @Ajraddatz: @Lourdes: @Bearcat: @Spirit of Eagle: @Soman: @Bd2412: Done. See Category:Lists of members of the Lok Sabha by term — Kjerish (talk) 00:06, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
- As the creator of the article, few points. 1) Help with wikimarkup to make the list less heavy to load is appreciated, myself I'm not very well versed in these things. 2) Splitting by state, party will have to confront the fact that many MPs have represented various parties and various states over the course of history. States have changed boundaries. 3) The point of creating the list was precisely to create a panoramic view of the Lok Sabha, being able to see the evolution across shifts in time in terms of composition. To be able to which member was part of which tenures, and so forth. It could also function as a progress sheet in terms of population blue links. There could be other listings (state, party, constituency etc.), but this should not be seen as mutually exclusive. --Soman (talk) 08:06, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
- For example, in List of members of the 6th Lok Sabha there are tons of mistakes in party identity, as many people that had been voted in for other parties in later elections are not listed by the parties they represented in 1977. --Soman (talk) 09:04, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
As User:Ajraddatz said in November 2017(!): "It would make sense to divide it into separate pages for the members in each specific Lok Sabha (15th Lok Sabha, etc). Is there any reason we cannot do this? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:12, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- I cant even load this page.Can something please be done about it? Nixinova T C 06:36, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- It might be more appropriate to split them by political era rather than by each parliamentary term. Either way this is virtually impossible using the information from this article. New articles would essentially have to be created from the start. Given that, it seems like this article should be deleted and we start over again per WP:TNT. - For now I will redirect this to the category for the lists of Lok Sabha members by term. Onetwothreeip (talk) 01:45, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
