editHysterical holds an 88% approval rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 17 reviews, with a weighted average of 8.3/10. The website's critics consensus reads, "Hysterical may not probe systemic disadvantages as deeply as it could have, but it excels as a frank and sometimes joyous celebration of very funny women who have made their mark in an industry that often marginalizes their achievements."[5] On Metacritic, the film holds a rating of 75 out of 100, based on 4 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[6]
