Kseniia Shadurska, (born April 17, 1991), commonly known by her stage name Shadu, stylized in all caps, SHADU, is a Ukrainian DJ and singer.[1].
Biography
editKseniia Shadurska was born on May 17, 1991 in the city of Kamianka (Ukraine)[2] in the family of a military man and a teacher[3]. She spent her childhood and youth in the town of Partenit (Autonomous Republic of Crimea). At the age of six, Shadurska began studying at a music school, specializing in violin, and graduated with honors.
At the age of 11, she won the Chornomorski Games competition[2][4].
By 16, she participated in and won the TV project "A Step to the Stars." She has repeatedly become a laureate of international competitions in Moscow, Berlin[5], Prague, and Krakow[2].
At 17, she enrolled at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, majoring in television directing, on a state-funded program. While studying, she worked part-time as a waitress and later as a backing vocalist in a karaoke club[2][6].
At 20, she formed her own indie rock band[2], Lollipop. By 22, she was already working as a director on the Ukrainian TV shows Ukraine's Got Talent and The X Factor on the STB channel.
In 2012, Shadurska began working as a director for the TV project The Voice of Ukraine[7][8] and later for the project Dancing with the Stars.
She also participated in the TV projects People's Star in a duet with Oleh Sobchuk[9][10][11] and The Voice of Ukraine (season one)[12].
In 2021, she launched her solo project, SHADU,[13][14][15][5][16]
In July 2022, together with sound producer Meyer, she presented the single "When I (Remix)", and two months later, the EP "Gravity"[17][15] was released to the public.
Throughout 2023, Shadu released her second EP titled Babylon[18][19] and a new single, "Rollercoaster"[20][21][22].
2024 became a significant year for her DJ career[23][24], as she released five Afro house releases, a subgenre of electronic dance music: "Need You"[25], "Under the Sky", "Stillness"[26], "Need Your Love"[15] and "Integration"[27]. In parallel with the production of her own tracks, the artist releases DJ mixes under the title "The Flow" on her YouTube channel.
