The term "Goku's Change" is conjectural. This article's real name is unknown or unsuitable and an unofficial title is used instead.

"Goku's Change" is a mysterious state undertaken by Goku at the end of Dragon Ball GT.[1]

Overview[]

Appearance[]

In this state, Goku is cloaked in an aura that dispels all incoming attacks, even those of such magnitude as Omega Shenron's Negative Karma Ball.[1] Upon witnessing this state, Pan additionally likens her grandfather to a god.[2]

Usage and Power[]

After having been blasted into a large hole by Omega Shenron, Goku undergoes this change - taking on a state where he is no longer the Goku he was before, and may be dead or even have become something else entirely.[1] Summoning a Spirit Bomb that eventually grows into a Super Ultra Spirit Bomb from the universe's gathered wishes, Goku rises from the ground, immediately shifting Omega Shenron's focus from the badly beaten Vegeta lying next to the crater. Unable to be damaged by Omega Shenron at all, Goku completes the Super Ultra Spirit Bomb and sends it crashing down onto Omega, finally annihilating him and saving the universe once again.[2]

Video Game Appearances[]

In Dokkan Battle, Goku's Change is represented by Culmination of Hope Goku (GT), who is not named differently from other Goku (GT) units, likely because Goku's Change is not regarded as an actual different form.

In Dragon Ball Legends, Goku's Change is represented by Goku (DBL67-01S). In the same way as Dokkan Battle, his name is not different than any other Goku (GT) unit. Furthermore, this Goku's Main Ability quotes "I'm not ready to die again just yet..."

Trivia[]

  • Goku's Change is a reference to Taoism (ascension to heaven in broad daylight), where those who are pure of heart and virtue can cast their mortal shell to evolve into celestial being. This is further strengthened by art and folklore often depicting such beings ascending to the heavens on a dragon, referenced by Goku's departure on Shenron's back.
