Directory: Characters → Saiyan
Borgos, known as Toteppo (トテッポ Toteppo) in the original Japanese version, is the largest member of Team Bardock.
Appearance[]
Borgos is a tall, bulky, muscular Saiyan. He has big strands of black hair on the sides of his head, but not hair in the middle of his head. He has three small scars on his forehead. Like the rest of the Frieza Force, Borgos wears a variant of the Battle Armor. His battle armor is black with a light blue stomach plate, and yellow shoulder straps. He also wears a green Scouter, dark blue pants, and black cuffs above his hands.
Personality[]
Borgos seems to have quite an appetite, as he is seen eating in two scenes. An interesting note is that in the original Japanese version of Bardock - The Father of Goku, Borgos is almost completely silent, the only exception being the battle cry he utters before being killed by Team Dodoria. In the Funimation dub, however, the character was given three extra lines, referencing becoming a Great Ape: "I'm with you Fasha. For me, it's like waking up from a dream. You kind of remember it all, but then it just slips away." He is a ruthless and skilled fighter but has a strong sense of camaraderie with his comrades and a sense of honor.
In Dragon Ball Legends, Borgos is noted for being the "strong silent type" and generally only speaks when he has something important to say. He also tends to follow Shugesh's lead when they find themselves together during the Tournament of Time, which leads Borgos to swallow his Saiyan pride along with Shugesh and work under Dodoria (as they come from the period before their deaths on Planet Meat). However after Shallot calls them out for their lack of Saiyan pride (which the amnesic Ancient Saiyan had learned from his interactions with Nappa, Vegeta, Bardock, Fasha, & Tora), Borgos is moved by Shallot's words and convinces Shugesh that they should stay and fight, remaining his teammate that as proud Saiyan warriors they shouldn't run from a fight.
Biography[]
Dragon Ball Super[]
According to Toyotarou's interpretation of what may have happened to them during Dragon Ball Super: Broly, when Tora is contacted by Leek about the order to return, Borgos and the other members of the squad are with him. They are then killed by Dodoria and two underlings.
Film Appearances[]
Bardock - The Father of Goku[]
Borgos, Bardock, Tora, Fasha, and Shugesh attack Planet Kanassa in their Great Ape forms. After Bardock is attacked by the last surviving Kanassan, Toolo, they decide to return Bardock to their home world Planet Vegeta, so that he can receive treatment for his injuries.
While he is still out of commission, Borgos, Tora, Fasha, and Shugesh are instructed to clear the civilization of Planet Meat. Before long during their visit to the planet, the group encounters Dodoria and his elites who, under Frieza's orders, betray and make short work of the Saiyans. Borgos and Tora last the longest against the elite warriors but Borgos is unfortunately finished off with a powerful punch to the face.
Broly[]
Borgos makes a cameo appearance in Broly when the Frieza Force appears on Planet Vegeta for the first time. He was also scanned by Frieza's scouter when he was using it to detect the snipers that were in King Vegeta's palace.
Other Dragon Ball stories[]
Episode of Bardock[]
Borgos has a cameo appearance along with his fallen comrades Tora, Fasha, and Shugesh.
Dragon Ball Legends[]
During the Tournament of Time in Age 780 some point after the Tournament of Power, the pre-Bardock - The Father of Goku Borgos ends up being among the members of Team Bardock participating in the tournament. Bardock (Bardock - The Father of Goku Age 737) reveals to Shallot that he is searching for his teammates. Though Bardock manages to reunite with Tora and Fasha after Shallot and Caulifla encounter them while searching for Kale, the whereabouts of Borgos and Shugesh are unknown.
While searching for Zamasu, Shallot smells some meat though comes to find it belongs to Borgos and Shugesh. Unaware of their association with Bardock, Tora, and Fasha, Shallot and his allies end up fighting the pair over the meat. However Borgos and Shugesh are easily defeated by the Ancient Saiyan who by this point had achieved Super Saiyan God (in addition to Super Saiyan Full Power, Super Saiyan 2, & Super Saiyan 3). The two run off and it is eventually revealed that they are working for ironically another incarnation of Dodoria (one of many counterparts of Dodoria participating in the Tournament of Time). Shallot later encounters them and Dodoria (one whom Shallot hasn't encountered before as he has fought several over the course of the tournament) with it being revealed that the meat was for Dodoria. Shallot defeats Dodoria, to the utter shock of Borgos and Shugesh. Shallot eventually admonishes the two for their lack of Saiyan pride given how they lowered themselves to work for someone like Dodoria). When Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed) appears after the Mastermind had further enhanced him with Dark Ki, Shugesh convinces Borgos to flee with him. However Shallot's words strike a cord with Borgos and eventually he convinces Shugesh to go back and fight, regaining their Saiyan pride. This leads the two to aid Shallot during his confrontation with Dark Ki Third Stage Kid Buu. Thanks to their assistance, Super Saiyan God Shallot is able to gather enough ki to defeat the Pure Majin with a powerful attack. Shallot thanks the two for their assistance. They also end up meeting Bardock's grandson Ultimate Gohan and his mentor Piccolo after they had been freed from Super Buu. Unfortunately they are forced to contend with Good Buu who was also freed from Super Buu, but still holds a grudge towards Shallot due to having memories of Super Saiyan 3 Shallot's defeat of Innocent Buu which resulted in the Dark Ki causing Evil Buu to split from his good counterpart in order to absorb him and become Super Buu. Eventually Borgos and Shugesh end up leaving Piccolo to keep Good Buu preoccupied.

Techniques and Special Abilities[]
- Flight – The ability to fly with the use of ki.
- Ki Blast - The most basic form of energy wave. Used in Dokkan Battle and Dragon Ball Legends.
- Ki Blast Arts - A volley of Ki Blasts. Used by Borgos in Dragon Ball Legends.
- Mouth Energy Wave – Borgos is seen using the mouth blast in his Great Ape form in the TV special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku.
- Angry Launcher (アングリーランチャー ) - A variation used by Borgos in his base form in Dragon Ball Heroes where it is depicted as a yellow Mouth Energy Wave. Also appears as his Special Move in Dokkan Battle and his Special Move Arts Dragon Ball Legends which he can teach to Shallot (DBL00-01) after reaching Friendship Rank 2.
- Fighting Pose - He uses a Fighting Pose identical to Burter's normal pose in Dragon Ball SD.
- Rising Rush - A technique and game mechanic in Dragon Ball Legends that can be triggered by collecting all seven Dragon Balls in battle. If Borgos is fighting solo, he will perform a combo of different attacks and if he chooses a Arts Card different from the opponent, he will perform Angry Launcher as a finisher. If fighting on a team, Borgos will perform Angry Launcher alone if either of his teammates is using a Strike type Special Move Arts (such as Shugesh's Massive Catapult) or combine it with the Blast type Special Move Arts used by his teammates.

Trivia[]
- Totepo's original character name by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru was Jagga (ジャッガ ).[2]
- In Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru's original character design for the movie, Borgos/Totepo was smaller than his final draft. His height was equal to about Bardock's height, instead of being taller like the final draft. He originally was bald, so the hair must have been added down the line to the final draft. He still had the same armor design as he does now. Surprisingly the only real differences were his height and hair (the scars on his head were also shown in the original draft). Akira Toriyama's reason for changing the design was because he wanted saiyans to have their own "distinguishing features".[2]
- In his Great Ape transformation, Borgos does not appear to retain the scars noticeable on his untransformed body. However this is not unheard of; on the contrary the reverse appears more often in the series, where a character is wounded as a Great Ape, and upon their regression, are left with the battle scar (Vegeta's eye during his conflict with Goku, and Shugesh's cheek after an encounter with an offensive Kanassan, for example).
- It is also possible that since Borgos is balding in his untransformed state, his fur merely covers the scars on his forehead in his Great Ape form, as he does not appear to have the same Great Ape receding hairline that Nappa (another bald Saiyan) does.
