Exploration of a Learner-centered Education Model: the Integration of PBL and FET

Published: 29 May 2024 Publication History

Abstract

This paper investigates the effectiveness of using finite element technique (FET) in problem-based learning (PBL) for vocational school students. A finite element model for a pressure bar case was established using Abaqus software, and colored nephograms and animations were used to enhance the learning experience. Teaching experiments, including a questionnaire, were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the FET application. Results showed that the majority of students agreed or strongly agreed with the effectiveness of the FET application in improving their understanding of the experiment, related formulas, and their desire and initiative to learn. This study contributes to the field by demonstrating the effectiveness of integrating FET into PBL, which can improve students’ learning outcomes and motivate them to learn. The integration of PBL with new technologies is an important topic that should be explored further by more scholars. By combining PBL with FET, we provide a new approach for developing digital resources to support PBL, which can benefit vocational school education in particular. Our research highlights the importance of using technology to enhance teaching and learning processes.
