Hell Portals are portals linking a location on Sanctuary to another in the Burning Hells, or one Hell realm to another. They are characterized by the corrupted growths around them (for permanent portals only), and their burning edges. They can be closed (at least the temporary ones) by mortal hands.[1]
In-game[]
Diablo Immortal[]
Hell Portals replace Infernal Gates from Diablo II in Diablo Immortal. Permanent portals serve as the entrances to the Domain of Horror, and the entrance to the Realm of Damnation from the Ruins of Sescheron that Skarn created.[2] Temporary Hell Portals called "Infernal Hollows" serve as the entrance to hidden dungeons in the Frozen Tundra, Realm of Damnation, and Stormpoint.
Diablo IV[]

Hell Portals will appear in Diablo IV during Season of Hatred Rising. Players must defeat Realmwalkers in order to access them.[3] The portals lead to "pocket realms" of Hatred, where, if players complete the zone, will be offered rewards. A Seething Opal will always drop in such cases.[4]
