Synopsis for "1st Story (No Title)"
Two American soldiers dive into a foxhole only to find that another G.I. is already inside. When one of the men mentions he heard a rumor the Nazis have robots in their army and that he wouldn't want to fight against or alongside them, the G.I. tells them some stories to calm their nerves. After hearing that robots have weaknesses just like any other soldier, the man says he's no longer scared of fighting one but still couldn't trust working alongside a robot. Just then a grenade is thrown into the foxhole. Before the others can react, the G.I. throws himself onto the grenade, sacrificing himself to save their lives. As they reach for his dogtags, they are shocked to find the G.I. was a robot all along.

Synopsis for "Pawns"
In the future, only robots are used as soldiers. Two human generals passively observe the battle on video screens from the safety of their headquarters. One of generals flies over the battle and notices the robots show emotions like humans, mourning their losses and adapting to new situations. Soon after, his ship is hit and he must bail out. The robot soldiers recover him and question him why they must fight, suffer, and die for the humans. The general answers that he doesn't know; they've been doing it this way so long that they no longer remember any other way. The robots decide to stop being pawns and the roles of humans and robots reverse as the war wages on.
