Mary Glenowen is enduring pressure from the town due to the fact that she is living in her cabin with Joshua. She is confronted in town by Jim Lane and she strikes him in the face with a whip.
When Mary returns to her cabin, she finds a note from Joshua explaining that he has left to find Nate. Mary packs her things and leaves in search of Joshua and Nate.
Joshua does eventually find Nathaniel. After speaking with Joshua, Nate jumps on a horse and rides away. Bill Hickock and Joshua saddle up and follow. They get to Mary's cabin and don't find her there, so Nate confronts Jim Lane. Nate tells Hickock and Joshua that he is going to find Mary.
