Synopsis for Black Canary and Green Arrow: "Billion-Dollar Bust!"

Black Canary utters her Canary Cry and enables herself and Green Arrow to escape. They hide in a hammock made of net arrows in a tree outside the casino watching as Lucker and Noller head for the Rockford Island Ferry hoping to get their drug shipment past customs before Green Arrow and Black Canary can stop them. Both heroes have a showdown with Lucker, Noller, and their gang at a point where a drug boat is being unloaded, and, with the help of the police and recovering addicts from a local clinic, the crooks are caught and a billion-dollar drug raid is accomplished.

A picture of Green Arrow throwing crates of heroin into the water is on the front page of the Star City Herald the next morning proclaiming "Billion Dollar Drug-Raid"

  • Strangely enough, it never occurs to Lois Lane or the communist spies that Jimmy Olsen actually has greater ease of access to Superman than Clark Kent, with his signal watch, especially notable since Jimmy is publicly recognized as Superman's best friend and therefore this fact would be no secret to anyone.

Trivia

  • Unlike the previous two chapters of the Green Arrow backup which Mike Grell co-wrote, this one was written solely by Elliot S! Maggin
  • The leader of the communist espionage ring involved in the events of this issue appears to be Leonid Brezhnev, who was at the time of this comic's publication the General-Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union's de facto head of state and government.
