[edit]Hi! Can you show me the link? I uploaded many photos. --128.227.211.120 21:29, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, are you the former Lecen? The story is interesting as it involves 4 photographers - The Polish Counts of Ostrorog, father and son,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanisław_Julian_Ostroróg and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanisław_Julian_Ignacy_Ostroróg who were the authentic "Walery" brand after their wife/mother, Waleria.
Then there was the Frenchman, Charles Varsavaux, who took over the Ostrorog/Walery Paris studio, after the son's death in 1929 and cashed in on the son's success, pretending to be "Valery".
Finally, there was another Pole, not a count and no connection, Walery Mroczkowski (1840-1889), who became a photographer in Menton, Nice and Trouville. He thought his name was too complicated so called himself, "Walery Ostroga". His family kept the name Ostroga, after the photo business.
The real trickster in all this is Varsavaux, which is why people think that Count Ostrorog, son, i.e. Walery, Lucien Walery, Laryew etc. died in 1935. I have been on this for some time as I speak French and Polish and have followed sources. I think my findings are accurate. I reckon Pedro was photographed by Count Ostrorog, father, who also took pictures of Queen Victoria and the Queen of Denmark among other celebrities. Kind regards, --Po Mieczu (talk) 00:10, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, it's me. But, can you show me the link to the photo you mentioned, so I can look back at the source? --Lecen (talk) 12:42, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
- If you go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanisław_Julian_Ostroróg, you will see Pedro's photo at the bottom in the Gallery. If you press on it, you will get to wikiCommons and the source with your name! Sorry if I misunderstood you. Good luck, --Po Mieczu (talk) 22:28, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
- I checked the original source, which is a CD-ROM published by the Imperial Museum in Petrópolis, Brazil. It only says Walery, but it doesn't explain whom exactly. --Lecen (talk) 03:30, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
- Lecen (talk), Thanks Lechen for doing that. The date, 1887 if correct, tells us for certain that it could only be Ostrorog father, as the son did not start photographing till 1890, after the father had died.--Po Mieczu (talk) 03:37, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
- The date is correct. It was taken during his 1997–1888 trip to Europe. Regards, --Lecen (talk) 14:15, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
