- Hi Jeff G. somehow I think it is related to Tomislav Tomić, and taken into consideration the contributions nominated for deletion by Tomislav Tomić and the comments on deletion requests such as, ... Maybe this is a case of a disgruntled hubbie uploading private picture... and Troll, vandal, clueless? by Tuvalkin, or ...Unused personal picture by Lymantria. Deletion of a graphic
Hello Jeff G., I wanted to ask if you can delete my old & unused chemistry graphic? It´s technically not correct & replaced by another one! 🔸 Thanks a lot, Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 19:44, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

My comments
Hi Jeff.
Did you read my response to your question: "If he is depicted in the photo File:Ali Mohammad Khademi with staff of Homa in Tehran.jpg, how is he the author / photographer? on my page?"
Regards

- @Shkuru Afshar: Yes, but an Admin will decide the results of the DRs on the merits. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 15:03, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
Do you think that I should copy our conversation into deletion talk pages of files or he will read them on my talk page?Shkuru Afshar (talk) 15:08, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Shkuru Afshar: the former. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 15:34, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
Sorry. I didn't get it. What "the former" means?Shkuru Afshar (talk) 15:47, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Shkuru Afshar: I meant wikt:former English Adjective sense 2, in this case you could "copy our conversation into deletion talk pages of files" or refer to it, as DR processing Admins are usually too busy to consider user talk pages when evaluating DRs (and are not required to do that by COM:DR policy). — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:18, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
I copied our conversation onto deletion talk pages.
If Admins are usually too busy to consider user talk pages, is it possible to reupload images with correct information (as are available on image pages at the moment) in case of deletion?
Shkuru Afshar (talk) 23:49, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Shkuru Afshar: No, you should not reupload / recreate the content in violation of COM:CSD#G4 "Recreation of content previously deleted per community consensus". — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 00:45, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
I have a question for you. Due to all of our conversation, where my explanations convincing?
As you say Admins are too busy to read the comments and make decision, they may delete pictures without reading the explanations. Who is the Admin that (or which Admin) investigates my images? So, I could explain to him like I explained to you?
If they delete pictures without explanations and just because of deletion request, maybe on the next upload with correct public domain labels and explanations, nobody requests for deletion.
Regards
Shkuru Afshar (talk) 14:55, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Shkuru Afshar: Your explanations were not convincing to me. You still have not indicated exactly which reason at {{PD-Iran}} applies for each photo in compliance with "The media description page should identify which reason applies" on that template. Admin's don't generally read user talk pages in reference to DRs, but they do read DRs. Per COM:A we have 227 Admins, any one of them may investigate your images. If you reupload / recreate any of these images here after deletion, you may be blocked for that. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 04:51, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
I changed the simple {{PD-Iran}} label to {PD-Art |1=PD-Iran |deathyear=1978|country=Iran} for all images to explain it is over 30 years after the death of owner of images and those are in public domaain in Iran.
Regards

File:KingsprimeTV Logo Icon.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Hi Jeff G. I find all of this to be confusing. I'm not sure why so many of my personal photos are slated to be deleted. I donate these out of appreciation to Wikimedia Commons. How can a brilliant photo of a family of Javelina's crossing the street, that I personally took in Sedona and am willing to share with the world, be slated for deletion? How can photos of myself taken by myself be slated to be removed? Does it have something to do with my support of President Trump? Just asking. I think my photos of John McCain's Memorial are very special. Is it because I am in the photos? Did I choose the wrong copyright releases? I respect your amazing background and understand that you know what you are doing. I would simply like to know what I am doing wrong. Thank you, Terrie — Preceding unsigned comment added by TwinsofSedona (talk • contribs) 10:33, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Ticket review
Hello sir, can you please review the ticket request 2018111610002628 ? Permission for some images on a website. Kindly please reply.--137.97.188.126 19:05, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Rpgroup: I guess this was you, but please login. If a free license has been sent to OTRS, then the file will be restored automatically when and if the email is received, processed, and approved. Note that OTRS, like Commons, is entirely staffed by volunteers, and, also like Commons, is shorthanded, so it may be close to 18 days before the email is processed and the file is restored.
- If the message was sent to the English language version of OTRS and the email has been properly received there the sender will receive an automatic reply with the ticket number. If the sender has not had a reply, please check that it was sent correctly and try again. Other language versions may or may not provide the automatic reply. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:40, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
Who knows copyright
I am here to ask about copyright and the variations thereof. It is all very confusing and I aim to put it all in proper perspective. Common law is one of my research projects and copyright is the next big challenge, this being as I am now faced with deciding copyright for my works, whether personal or otherwise belonging to another and affecting my actions. Its something I generally have skipped over as free to use or gnu or attribution, all mind boggling. Upon looking at your talk page, I feel like I am in the right place for guidance. You know me from an ongoing upload by myself, and this request is separate from that one, being discussed at Commons talk:Abuse filter. Thank you in advance should you decide to tutor me or otherwise lead me to the necessary journals. I am your corespondent, Suijur, sui juris 21:58, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Suijur: just to toss in a couple of general tips, the best place to ask specific questions about copyright is COM:VPC, and a little background & guidance on licensing may be found at COM:CLIC.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 23:01, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Suijur: In addition to what Odysseus1479 wrote, I think you could benefit from reading COM:L, COM:CRT, and en:Copyright. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 01:58, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you both for your input, I have retired to my user page for some reading time; it is a wonderful thing to be around such a nice folk as yourselves. Suijur, sui juris 03:07, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Removing photos that have been used elsewhere on the internet
Hi I uploaded my own photo for a wiki entry It was deleted because it also exists on my google scholar page. It is owned by me, and is not subject to copyright. It's my photo! Photo Flagged as Copyright
Hi Jeff, I noticed on the Paragon Cause Wiki Page and my page that it is saying I uploaded a copyright protected photo. This is my photo in which I own 100% of the copyright, it is used on other sites over the web as It was provided as such. There has been no copyright transfer, however, it wikipedia prefers non-internet used photos, I am happy to do this. I am not sure how to correct this issue and would appreicate any help. Jbonapar (talk) 12:57, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Jbonapar: your photo File:ParagonCause.jpg was previously published on the Internet in a bunch of places and therefore needs permission via the organization's website or OTRS, and then a post at COM:UDR. Yes, non-internet used photos are much more likely to withstand scrutiny. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 17:48, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
Exif in PNG
Hello Jeff, will you learn one day that PNG doesn’t provide Exif at all? Your rubber-stamp replies at Commons talk:Abuse filter make Commons look more stupid than it, in average, is. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 12:38, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Incnis Mrsi: I learned that File:Perform batch task.png has EXIF metadata, viewable here and at Jeffrey's Image Metadata Viewer. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:18, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- The ExifTool software can read metadata from a PNG, but the manual never claims that these metadata are of Exif format. Moreover, unlike JPEG where many Exif tags are of habitual use, few PNG tags can be frequently found in PNG files. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 13:48, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
Creating Beta Commons Test User
Hey Jeff, thank you very much for blocking the test accounts on Beta Commons. That discussion was archived, but just to ask these two questions didn't think it was worth reopening. Do you know if blocking access to the Special: namespace is technically possible, and if so/if unsure do you know anyone who has the correct privileges on Beta Commons to do so? Hello Jeff G Have you blocked me or something? I don't understand. I don't frequent the commons and I only found out two minutes ago that Fair Use isn't allowed. I'm sorry, but what have I done wrong. Also I'm not always good at figuring out how to sign my messages on talk pages. Thanks. Patrick Rogel
Jacob Simon Egan (talk) 21:45, 22 January 2019 (UTC)Jeff thank you for response to my question on responding to message and using the 4 ~. I assumed Patrick Rogel was an Administrator because he got in touch with me about a copyright issue on a photo I posted on an article. I am trying to get that photo deleted by him. Whatever Patrick's status with Wikipedia, I assume he has that authority. Am I correct, yours Jacob Simon Egan
- @Jacob Simon Egan: Thanks for writing.
- Per Commons:Signatures policy, you are supposed to simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments, not the beginning.
- Almost everyone here can get in touch with anyone else here about a copyright issue (unless they are blocked).
- You actually have more authority than he does to request speedy deletion of File:Zsa Zsa Gabor and Andrew Solt.jpg under CSD G7 because you are the uploader.
- Only Administrators here (listed at COM:A) and the WMF Office have the authority to delete files here per COM:DP.
- Getty Images offers no license on it's website which is compatible with Wikimedia Commons because doing so would destroy it's profit model. If you have a special case with a contract, please send a copy of the contract via OTRS.
- If you have further questions, please ask here or at our help desk. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:19, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi Jeff, I have tried repeatedly to delete the photo at issue for copyright violation Zsa_Zsa_Gabor_and_Andrew_Solt.jpg and have had no success and don't know what I'm doing wrong. I went to the GD7 section you suggested, made two specific deletion requests on different forms that came up, and there has been no follow-through in terms of removing the photo. Please give me a way to solve this. I have been hassling this for a number of days and so far come up empty. Jacob Simon Egan (talk) 20:36, 25 January 2019 (UTC) Jacob Simon Egan
