Un saludo--Heralder (talk) 17:21, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Earth 2016!Dear Ivanhercaz, On behalf of the Wikipedia community and Wikimedia Spain, organizer of the Spanish edition of Wiki Loves Earth 2016, we want to say thank you for your participation, and especially for contributing your pictures to the free knowledge. Due to the participation of people like you, the contest has gathered thousands of pictures of natural heritage sites from 17 countries. The contest in other countries is still open. You can find all your uploaded pictures in this category, and you are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and hence help to develop Wikimedia Commons. Wiki Loves Monuments and Wiki Loves Folk are just around the corner. If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help. English speaking Commons community meets in the Village Pump. You are more than welcome to leave us a comment, suggestion or question. You can post them here. Kind regards, |
Categoría Castle of La Peroja
Saludos, --Elisardojm (talk) 09:59, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
Bridge of the Bibey has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Welcome, Dear Filemover!
[edit]
Hi Ivanhercaz, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
- Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
- Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Valued Image Promotion
[edit]Congratulations! The image you nominated was reviewed and has now been promoted as a valued image. It is considered to be the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
Facade of Town hall of Almadrones Spain.
If you would like to nominate another image, please do so at Valued images candidates.
First, Second, Thrid. Phantastic. This is how we wokr here together? I decline a request, because if names confuse, the file on the Wikipedia has to be changed, not the Commons file, because of here is the center for files, that get used by different projects. So the file names on the single projects must change. Then comes a person who undo my administrative descission - und you then do what this person wants. Phantastic! Great! So we can stop projects as Commons, because this can not work for longer. Marcus Cyron (talk) 12:47, 24 October 2016 (UTC) PS: maybe we have to talk about your right to move files.
Code issues in User:Ivanhercaz/toolbarPlus.js
[edit]Hi Ivanhercaz, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.
Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:
- You edited User:Ivanhercaz/toolbarPlus.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
- Though, that change appears to introduce 5 new jshint issues — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
- To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!

Your VFC installation method is deprecated
[edit]Hello Ivanhercaz, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Hi Ivanhercaz, what streets and buildings are included and what is excluded? Note that there are modern buildings within the old town and that there is no clearly visible border between the old town and the rest of Santa Cruz de La Palma. This category urgently requires a clear definition. Otherwise it will degenerate to a hotchpotch of everything that in Santa Cruz de La Palma looks old in the eyes of some users. Greetings, -- Ies (talk) 15:14, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Ies!
- Excuse me for not reply to you until now. At this moment, I can't define the streets and buildings included and excluded in the old town of Santa Cruz de La Palma. I am going to search official resources that allow me to define the limits of this old town. I made a fast-research and I found the BIC declaration (in Spanish, if you are interested, I can translate the fragment about it), but it doesn't define what is included; it talks about what has historical and artistic value. I am not sure with that.
- I am agree with you, if we don't define this category it could converted in a hotpotch of everything in S. C. de La Palma. I will try to fix it. I created this category as part of Wiki Loves Monuments, to review the photographs and have the lists prepared for the contest. Excuse me for not define it fine.
- When I have something to tell you, I will send you another message!
- Regards, Ivanhercaz (talk) 14:21, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

- ¡Exquisitos planos, Beta15!
- Saludos, Ivanhercaz (talk) 02:10, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

- Several Commons community members are working on ways to integrate Wikidata in Wikimedia Commons. While this is not full-fledged structured data yet, this work helps to prepare for future conversion of data, and helps to understand how Wikidata and Commons can work better together.
- Thanks to Jarekt and other contributors, some Commons templates can now be filled via Wikidata: {{Creator}} (Phabricator) and {{Institution}} (Phabricator). Work is ongoing on the {{Artwork}} template (Phabricator).
- Thanks to Mike Peel and others, Wikidata-powered infoboxes can now be added to Commons categories, with the template {{Wikidata Infobox}}. (Example)
- Multichill is working on an experimental workflow to upload images to Commons via Wikidata (and using metadata from Wikidata). See a part of it here.
- Join the community focus group!
- Do you want to help out translating messages about Structured Data on Commons from English to your own language? Sign up on the translators page.

Structured Data on Commons Newsletter - Summer 2018
[edit]Welcome to the newsletter for Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons! You can update your subscription to the newsletter and contribute to the next issue. Do inform others who you think will want to be involved in the project!
- Community updates
- Our dedicated IRC channel: wikimedia-commons-sd webchat
- Since our last newsletter, the Structured Data team has moved into designing and building prototypes for various features. The use of multilingual captions in the UploadWizard and on the file page has been researched, designed, discussed, and built out for use. Behind the scenes, back-end work on search is taking place and designs are being drawn up for the front-end. There will soon be specifications published for the use of the first Wikidata property on Commons, "Depicts," and a prototype is to be released to go along with that.
- A workshop on what Wikidata properties Commons will need. This workshop will be open for the entire month of July 2018 at minimum.
- Join the community focus group!
- Do you want to help out translating messages about Structured Data on Commons from English to your own language? Sign up on the translators page.
- Contribute to the next newsletter.
- Discussions held
- In late February there was a discussion around how Commons generally sees data being modeled.
- The first discussion on copyright and licensing with Commons was held in March. This was a "high level" discussion, there will be a consultation later this summer about the deeper mapping of copyright and licensing in a structured way.
- In April there was an exercise for GLAM partners in metadata and ontology mapping.
- A discussion about the design for Multilingual Captions on the file page took place in May. You can still review the designs and leave feedback.
- There was an IRC office hour in June to discuss progress so far and future plans.
- Wikimania 2018
- Three sessions about Structured Commons are officially scheduled for Wikimania 2018 - Cape Town, South Africa - July 2018.
- Wikimedia Commons and GLAM needs around the world (Friday 20 July, 10:30 local time)
- Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons and knowledge equity (Friday 20 July, 14:00 local time)
- Design challenge workshop: How can multilingual structured metadata bring knowledge equity to Commons? (Friday 20 July, 14:30 local time)
- Structured Data on Commons is also a focus area during the Wikimania 2018 Hackathon. We will, among other things, do 'live' modelling of Wikidata properties for Commons - an offline spin-off of the community consultation taking place on wiki.
- Partners and allies
- We are still welcoming (more) staff from GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) to become part of our long-term focus group (phabricator task T174134). You will be kept in the loop of the project, and receive regular small surveys and requests for feedback. Get in touch with Sandra if you're interested - your input in helping to shape this project is highly valued!
- Structured Data on Commons was presented to GLAM audiences during EuropeanaTech 2018 in Rotterdam (15 May 2018) and at the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek Forum in Berlin (4 June 2018).
- Research
Two research projects about Wikimedia Commons are currently ongoing, or in the process of being finished:
- Research:Curation workflows on Wikimedia Commons—a project that seeks to understand the current workflows of Commons contributors who curate media (categorize it, delete it, link to it from other projects, etc.).
- Research:Technical needs of external re-users of Commons media—soliciting feedback from individuals and organizations that re-use Commons content outside of Wikimedia projects, in order to understand their current painpoints and unmet needs.
- Prototypes will be available for Depicts soon.

Structured Data Newsletter - Research link fix
[edit]Greetings,
The newsletter omitted two interwiki prefixes, breaking the links on non-meta wikis as you might see above. Here are the correct links:
- m:Research:Curation workflows on Wikimedia Commons—a project that seeks to understand the current workflows of Commons contributors who curate media (categorize it, delete it, link to it from other projects, etc.).
- m:Research:Technical needs of external re-users of Commons media—soliciting feedback from individuals and organizations that re-use Commons content outside of Wikimedia projects, in order to understand their current painpoints and unmet needs.
My apologies, I hope you find the corrected links helpful.

Wiki Loves Love help needed
[edit]Hello Ivanhercaz, You endorsed the Wiki Loves Love photo contest on Meta. This photo contest starts on 1 February. To be able to make the photo contest more accessible and available to more people in the world, it needs translations of the upload wizard, templates and pages to your local language. Please help us! Go to Commons:Wiki Loves Love 2019/Translations to see how needs to be translated. (In some languages there are maybe already some translations available.) Thanks in advance!! Captions in January
[edit]Structured Data - file captions coming this week (January 2019)
[edit]My apologies if this is a duplicate message for you, it is being sent to multiple lists which you may be signed up for.
Hi all, following up on last month's announcement...
Multilingual file captions will be released this week, on either Wednesday, 9 January or Thursday, 10 January 2019. Captions are a feature to add short, translatable descriptions to files. Here's some links you might want to look follow before the release, if you haven't already:
- Read over the help page for using captions - I wrote the page on mediawiki.org because captions are available for any MediaWiki user, feel free to host/modify a copy of the page here on Commons.
- Test out using captions on Beta Commons.
- Leave feedback about the test on the captions test talk page, if you have anything you'd like to say prior to release.
Additionally, there will be an IRC office hour on Thursday, 10 January with the Structured Data team to talk about file captions, as well as anything else the community may be interested in. Date/time conversion, as well as a link to join, are on Meta.
Thanks for your time, I look forward to seeing those who can make it to the IRC office hour on Thursday.

Problem in VI
[edit]We must put in the caption the geocoding. For architectural images it is recommended to correct the percpetive errors. Like this Town hall of Almadrones.jpg. Welcome to VI where you seem to have a bright future.--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 05:25, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Archaeodontosaurus! Thanks for your comments. I have put a {{Location}} template in each photograph of the respective categories of the three nominations I did, but I didn't add it in the caption. Should be added in this structured field?
- I have many doubts about the perspective errors of the architectural images. I am reading about and trying to fix it. In the case of three photographs I nominated, whats exactly the error? I would like to see it clearly to learn to identify and solve it. What I tried with the Town hall of Almadrones.jpg was to keep all the horizontal lines straight and a central focus for the image. I am going to tell what I think of each image and I will wait your feedback to confirm that I have to correct this:
- Bell tower of the church of San Miguel Arcángel, Argecilla.jpg. I should rotate this one to the left side to keep the vertical lines straight.
- View of Argecilla with the town hall and the church 02.jpg. Should I crop it to keep only the town hall?
- Hermitage of La Soledad 01.jpg. In this case I have more doubts but may be it should be rotated a bit to the right to keep the horizontal lines straight.
- I await your answers! Again, thank you!
- Regards, Ivanhercaz (talk) 09:30, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Perfect for geocoding. The vertical lines should be at most near the vertical. For the counter-dive one can accept a symmetrical angulation; the others follow without any need for correction. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 13:11, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Archaeodontosaurus: Nice! So after your comments I think the first and second file, the bell tower and the town respectively, should be straighten a bit. Before to upload new versions to Commons I would like to be sure that I understand you and I fix it fine. This link is the bell tower and this one is the town hall (public links will expire in 7 days). Could you confirm these are the changes you said me? As you said "the others follow without any need for correction" I understand just the bell tower needs a perspective correction, but just in case you refer to the town hall too I did a small correction in its perspective.
- I await your answers!
- Regards, Ivanhercaz (talk) 15:56, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi, On my Commons user page you have the possibility to send me an Email. Send me your address I quickly made the corrections in small formats I can send them to you so that you are an idea. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 05:39, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- did you receive my message yesterday? --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 05:23, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Archaeodontosaurus: Yes! Excuse me for the delay replying you, but yesterday I was busy and today I have been with migraine, so until now I couldn't reply nor work in nothing. Regards, Ivanhercaz (talk) 19:34, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Archaeodontosaurus: Fixed both images, the bell tower and the town hall. I await your comments. Regards, Ivanhercaz (talk) 20:27, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2019
Structured Data - blogs posted in Wikimedia Space
[edit]There are two separate blog entries for Structured Data on Commons posted to Wikimedia Space that are of interest:
- Working with Structured Data on Commons: A Status Report, by Lucas Werkmeister, discusses some ways that editors can work with structured data. Topics include tools that have been written or modified for structured data, in addition to future plans for tools and querying services.
- Structured Data on Commons - A Blog Series, written by me, is a five-part posting that covers the basics of the software and features that were built to make structured data happen. The series is meant to be friendly to those who may have some knowledge of Commons, but may not know much about the structured data project.
Important message for file movers
[edit]A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect
user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect
user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
[edit]Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Boniface Ferrer
Hi Ivanhercaz
Boniface Ferrier, in French, Bonifaci Ferrer in catalan, Bonifacio Ferrer in spanish. It's the same for his brother Vincent Ferrier
How to solve it ?
Regards--Thcollet (talk) 04:57, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Thcollet: Hi! I don't know if there is something to solve, because it is possible that Bonifacio Ferrer is better known as Bonifacio Ferrier in French. Although it seems a bit strange. Before to decline the rename request I check the consistency of the names across the available pages on the different Wikipedias, and it seems is more common "Ferrer" than "Ferrier". I don't know the policy about names and titles in the French Wikipedia, but may it could be necessary to move the page to "Boniface Ferrer" instead of "Boniface Ferrier". But, as I said, I am not very involved in French Wikipedia so it is just an opinion. My advice would be to talk this issue on Le Bistro.
- If I can help you with something more it would be a pleasure for me.
- Regards, Ivanhercaz (talk) 14:58, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
