The Upload Wizard is the default method for uploading files to Wikimedia Commons. Nedenstående skærmbillede viser en typisk proces for at lægge filer op. I det første trin vises en vejledning om licenser for brugeren. I det andet trin kan brugeren vælge en eller flere filer (op til 50 filer ad gangen) og starte oplægningen af filerne. I det tredje trin skal brugeren angive licensrettighederne til filen eller filerne. I det fjerde trin skal brugeren tilføje grundlæggende beskrivelser til hver fil. Hvis oplægningen af filerne var succesfuld, så er resultaterne opsummeret i det sidste trin, for at gøre det nemt at kopiere og bruge filinformation som ønsket.
