English: The Duc d’Aumale was a three-masted Barque of monotype “Amiral Courbet” and was built by the
Chantiers Nantais de Constructions Maritimes for Société Nouvelle D´ Armement (Guillon Norbert & Claude), Nantes. The ship was launched Dec 27, 1900 and was 2189 gross, 1944 net (84,6 x 12,3 x 6,9 m). On a voyage from Bahia Blanca to Bordeaux, the barque was intercepted by U-43 and sunk by explosives Jan 22, 1917 in position 45:21N 8:50W (Gulf of Biscay).[1][2]
