I can find no sources suggesting this is an official flag, nor can the uploader, who has said delete if no sources can be found. Doug Weller (talk) 13:18, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i found https://web.archive.org/web/20000414165933/https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/gt-maya.html . no idea who this Jan Oskar Engene is and how much truth this record holds. RZuo (talk) 14:21, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
also, File talk:Bandera Maya.png: "Jaume Ollé" (https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ed-g-jo.html ?) talked about another version and User:Miguu uploaded it. RZuo (talk) 14:24, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Jaume Ollé and Jan Oskar Engene are well known vexillologists and FotW-ws is not only encyclopedic but a place for field reports and original research (that's why info there is signed and dated). Based on the above, this image should  not be deleted but instead edited to reflect the changes meanwhile enacted in its PNG source. (As a vexillologist myself I’ve had a few bitter disagreements with collegue Jaume Ollé in the past, but he’s not a liar: if he says he saw this flag in use in QRoo in 2015, he really did.) -- Tuválkin 14:53, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[1] is the apparent fact that some Maya use the flag proof of it being generally accepted? And given that I’m logged in at enwiki, why aren’t I logged in here? Doug Weller 86.14.197.26 18:12, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Keep There's no rule that non-official flags can't be hosted on Commons. --Adamant1 (talk) 23:05, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: no reason for deletion, per discussion. --Ellywa (talk) 16:08, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
