21/08/2024 - Other victors at the ceremony intended to dish out the Hearts of Sarajevo for best regional series included Time of Death and Radio Mileva

The Hearts of Sarajevo for best regional series were given out at a ceremony that took place on the evening of Sunday 18 August, in the Hills Hotel in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Eight series from seven former-Yugoslavian countries were competing in 14 categories, while the jury, consisting of over 500 film professionals, also from the region, decided on the winners. At the same ceremony, the honorary Hearts of Sarajevo were presented to Christof Papousek, the CFO of Constantin Film and Cineplexx Group, and producer Philippe Bober by festival president Mirsad Purivatra.

As for the series, the overall winners were I Know Your Soul (created by Jasmila Žbanić and Damir Ibrahimović) in the drama category and Smashing It (created by Elma Tataragić, Dušan Vranić, Enes Zlatar and Amra Bakšić Čamo) in the comedy section. I Know Your Soul took home seven Heart of Sarajevo Awards: for Best Drama Series, Best Actress (Jasna Đuričić), Best Supporting Actress (Jelena Kordić Kuret), Best Supporting Actor (Mirvad Kurić), Rising Star (Lazar Dragojević), Best Screenplay (Jasmila Žbanić and Elma Tataragić) and Best Directing (Nermin Hamzagić). The only other awardee in the category was Time of Death, which bagged the Award for Best Actor, posthumously bestowed upon Žarko Laušević.

The tussle was tighter in the comedy section, where two series scooped three awards each. Smashing It won Best Comedy Series, Best Actor (Alen Muratović) and Best Screenplay (Elma Tataragić, Dušan Vranić and Enes Zlatar), while Radio Mileva (created by Nebojša Garić) bagged the Awards for Best Actress (Olga Odanović), Rising Star (Kris Gavrić) and Best Directing (Elmir Jukić).
