The driving point of the songs on an album such as this, is just the melodies being played. They are solid, often quite simple, a lead guitar and a rhythm guitar and a humble synth playing often almost unnoticeably in the background. The result is some really good black metal, not one that tries to impress with violent imagery, fast drums, anti-christianity, and the likes, but rather one who solely relies on the quality of the songs. lister1937

La magie fait peut-être partie de la vie quotidienne des habitants d'Amérique latine, comme le déclarait Manuel Garciá Marquez, mais elle se trouve aussi au Canada : c'est d'ailleurs elle qui motive la création d'Iris. Dans ce troisième album, Altars of Grief donne une r��alité au concept de "prairie doom" avec un death/doom metal ancré dans le réel, lourd, glacial et très varié, mais qui comprend aussi une part de surnaturel grâce à l'apparition des violons.
