Title:Classification of Extensions of Picard 2-Stacks by the cohomology groups Ext^i of length 3 complexes
View PDFAbstract:Let S be a site. We first define the product, the pull-back and the push-down of Picard 2-stacks over S. We then define the 3-category of extensions of Picard 2-stacks over S. We introduce the notions of pull-back and push-down of such extensions which allow us to define also the sum of such extensions. We define extensions of length 3 complexes in the tricategory T^[-2,0](S) introduced by the second author in arXiv:0906.2393, getting a pure algebraic analogue of the 3-category of extensions of Picard 2-stacks.
Finally we compute the homological interpretation of extensions of Picard 2-stacks: if A,B are two Picard 2-stacks and [A],[B] are the corresponding length 3 complexes of abelian sheaves, then the equivalence classes of extensions of A by B are parametrized by the cohomology group Ext^1([A],[B]); the 2-isomorphism classes of morphisms of extensions from an extension E of A by B to itself are parametrized by the cohomology group Ext^0([A],[B]); the 3-isomorphism classes of 2-automorphisms of morphisms of extensions from E to itself are parametrized by the cohomology group Ext^{-1}([A],[B]); and finally the 3-automorphisms of 2-automorphisms of morphisms of extensions from E to itself are parametrized by the cohomology group E^{-2}([A],[B]).
