Dr. Royce Hemlock

Dr. Royce Hemlock is the main antagonist of the second half of Season 2 and Season 3 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. He heads the Empire's secret agency called the "Advanced Science Division".

History[]

Season 2[]

Before the birth of the Galactic Empire, Dr. Hemlock worked in the Republic science corps until he was fired for unauthorized and unorthodox experiments. After the birth of the Empire, he began to head the Advanced Science Division and began working on the Empire's cloning program in the name of Emperor Palpatine. When Kaminoan Chief Scientist Nala Se was reluctant to help him after what the Empire did to the Kaminoans, he called Lama Su to a meeting to find out how to get Nala Se to cooperate. When Lama Su explained to him that he could use the young clone, Omega, to get Nala Se to help him with the Imperial cloning program, he began chasing Clone Force 99 to capture Omega and deliver her to Nala Se. He also tried to get information from Crosshair on where to find Clone Force 99, but Crosshair had no idea where his former team was, so he tortured Crosshair for information. And when he went to the meeting held at Governor Tarkin's fortress on Eriadu, he told about his institution's plans and that he found a purpose for clones decommissioned from the Empire's service as test subjects for his research. And after the attack on Tarkin's fortress, he left for Ord Mantell because Clone Force 99's former employer, Cid, informed him that Clone Force 99 was there. After capturing the Wrecker, he and the Clone Commandos who came with him also captured Hunter when he did not hand over Omega to him and his dropped weapon at his command, and while taking them aboard, Omega tried to rescue them from his possession, but Omega was unsuccessful when the Clone Commandos Scorch stunned Omega, after which he left to take Omega to Nala Se. When he arrived in Wayland, he wanted Nala Se to make Emperor Palpatine's project possible, and if Nala Se refused or failed, Omega would suffer the consequences.
