Hi. When you recently edited Uong Bi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ward (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). The article List of Asilidae species has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A list which none of its items are exist and may not be notable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ●Mehran Debate19:35, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Long Tan

[edit]

Long Tan → Long Tân – The content of this artilce should move and overwite to Long Tân, Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Then, Long Tan should redirect to Long Tân. There are many commune places in Vietnam named Long Tân. Then, Cheers! (talk) 04:48, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi! Actually shouldn't the article be deleted, it seems to be duplicate with Battle of Long Tan? In ictu oculi (talk) 12:30, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is a place name, if any part is duplicated, please move to correspond article. [Long Tan] should be a redirect page.--Cheers! (talk) 23:50, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to see you got your move. I will add 'support to the other one. By the way, I just noticed you moved page Hòa Hưng to Hòa Hưng, Ba Ria–Vung Tau, yes sensible move, many vietnamese place named Hòa Hưng - but it seems odd to have the village spelled in Vietnamese and the province with Vietnamese removed instead of Hòa Hưng, Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu. The only 3 RMs on Vietnamese place names which have taken place have all 3 gained User support for use of Vietnamese names, and any removal of Vietnamese was done as undiscussed move, so please feel free when you're doing valuable work correcting the geography stubs to also use Vietnamese spelling. The majority of English-speaking users welcome it. And I believe there are some place names where the Vietnamese distinguishes - but if changed to English they look the same, is this so? In ictu oculi (talk) 15:43, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank for your information, I move the Hòa Hưng to [Hòa Hưng, Ba Ria–Vung Tau] just follow another existed case. It is important that we/you can create the disambig pages so the readers can go to the exact article. Non-Vietnamese users are very difficult to type the Vietnamese names so they just tpye [Hoa Hung] instead of [Hòa Hưng].--Cheers! (talk) 02:11, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, yes that's how it works with French and Czech too, anyone searching will type "Antonin Dvorak" but Google and the en.wp redirect will go to Antonín Dvořák, this is why all Latin alphabet articles (apart from those Vietnamese ones which have been recently "anglicized") are at original spelling, we don't "anglicize" any other nation's Latin alphabet so no particular reason to do it only to Vietnamese.
By the way, I have a question. My Chinese Vietnamese grammar gives the word "lượngtừ" for classifier (linguistics), such as classifer cuốn in "ba cuốn sách", "three-classifier-books," but I have never seen the word "lượngtừ" in a Vietnamese source. It looks to me as if the Chinese editor took the Chinese word 量词 (characters for lượngtừ in Chinese) and translated it back into Vietnamese as ""lượngtừ" My big Vietnamese dictionary is not to hand. Have you ever seen the word "lượngtừ" as a grammatical term for a counter-word or classifier? I suspect there is another Vietnamese term for classifer cuốn in "ba cuốn sách". Any idea? In ictu oculi (talk) 05:25, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm still a little unsure of what should be the correct English, "township" or Ngân Sơn (town) In ictu oculi (talk) 13:02, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

many people usualy translate: thị xã --> town; thị trấn--> township, but some cases town stand for thị xã or thị trấn. Actually, thị trấn is the same level of a subdivision of thị xã. District-level town (Vietnam) (thị xã) and Commune-level town (Vietnam) (thị trấn). I usual use township for thị trấn'.--Cheers! (talk) 01:55, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
btw - Did you see the reply on WT:CAPS re "Province/province"? In ictu oculi (talk) 04:11, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tây Vinh

[edit]

Hi, I was looking at the articles, translated from Korean, on the Binh Tai massacre, Go Dai massacre, Tay Vinh massacre. But xã Bình An is today xã Tây Vinh? Is there some duplication due to misunderstanding of name changes in these 3 articles? In ictu oculi (talk) 11:30, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is confirmed that Xã Bình An is Xã Tây Vinh today.[1]. Gò Dài is a location in xã Bình An/Tây Vinh where had alot of people died in one day. Binh Tai massacre mentions to location in Sơn Tịnh District, Quang Ngãi province[2][3] not in Phuoc Binh, Song Be.--Cheers! (talk) 11:55, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, corrected. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:06, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But then Dien Nien-Phuoc Binh Massacre is a duplicate? In ictu oculi (talk) 13:17, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
according to the sources, there are two massacres in xã Tịnh Sơn, one in thôn Phước Bình (9 Oct.) and another in thôn Diên Niên (13 Oct.). It is sometime called Dien Nien-Phuoc Binh Massacre. I can't find the location named Binh Tai related to this Massacre, except blog sources.--Cheers! (talk) 01:21, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find Binh Tai either. Should it be merged into Dien Nien-Phuoc Binh Massacre? It seems confused by Korean sources. Do you think maybe a Korean editor got confused with vi:Thảm sát Thái Bình, 1966? In ictu oculi (talk) 06:39, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
1) I dont have the source implies that they are the same but it mentions the events in the same day and caused by the same Korean military unit, so we can show this doubt in the article, isn't it?. 2) I dont think the editor make confuse due to the date, Japanese source [Asahi Shimbun] said the massacre is in February, instead of October. Regards,--Tranletuhan (talk) 07:43, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Maybe will let Cheers make the edits to correct. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:53, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Thanks.--Cheers! (talk) 03:54, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate town?

[edit]

See Phuoc Long, has 2 links to Phước Long, Bac Lieu 2nd is Phước Long, Hồng Dân, "was a commune-level town in Hong Dan District, Bac Lieu" ... but this has no vi.wp article. Wasn't it a temporary designation and should redirect/merge to the town? In ictu oculi (talk) 02:53, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Previously this township belongs to Hong Dan District, and when Phuoc Long District is established, this township become as a capital of Phuoc Long District. I fixed it and created a commune of Phuoc Long too. But there is another commune of Phuoc Long belonged to Giong Trom District, Ben Tre province. I think we can't use Phước Long (village) for a unit in Phuoc Long District, instead of Phước Long, Phước Long District and Phước Long, Giong Trom District. How is about this recommend? --Cheers! (talk) 03:34, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so Phước Long, Giồng Trôm is now created linking to vi:Phước Long, Giồng Trôm. Useful for the disambiguation page. But I don't understand the need for Phước Long (village) (even though Phước Long, Phước Long District is clearer), this doesn't have a vi.wp article I think? In ictu oculi (talk) 03:57, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Or we can move to Phước Long, Phước Long ?, and vi is vi:Phước Long (xã thuộc huyện Phước Long).--Cheers! (talk) 04:00, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay. Alternatively, although it's a mouthful Phước Long Village, Phước Long District, Bạc Liêu). Either way is an improvement. As long as it is compatible with vi articles that is fine. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:11, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
done.--Cheers! (talk) 04:16, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That looks like a job well done. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:31, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 55 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African wildlife articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance. If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing any article related to a topic you often work on, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Might be a good way to work on fleshing out articles you've long been meaning to target and get rewarded for it! Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:54, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
