FAC closing

[edit]

Closed FACs are moved to the Featured log if successful, or the Archived log if unsuccessful.[1]

1. Edit the nomination page:
A. Remove the line which transcluded article links and featured article tools[2]
B. Tag the top of the page with where result=
promoted by Username timestamp [diff] or
not promoted by Username timestamp [diff]
C. Tag the bottom of the page with

For promoted FACs:

2. Edit the article page, adding featured article and removing good article if it is present.
3. Edit the article talk page, removing FAC and adding or updating ArticleHistory.[3] Set |currentstatus=FA and update the project assessments, setting |class=FA
4. If the article was a GA at the time it became FA, remove it from the listing at WP:GA.
5. If the article has not previously been TFA, add the article to Wikipedia:Featured articles that haven't been on the Main Page.

For archived FACs:

2. Edit the article talk page, removing FAC and adding or updating ArticleHistory, setting |currentstatus=FFAC unless the article is GA.

FAR closing

[edit]

Closed FARs are moved to a single log, at Wikipedia:Featured article review/archive. (Nominations closed during the current month are appended to the bottom, under the heading 'Kept status' or 'Removed status'; after the month is over, they are moved to a subpage archive, linked from that page.)

1. Edit the nomination page:
A. Remove the line which transcluded article links and featured article tools[2]
B. Tag the top of the page with where result=
kept by Username timestamp [diff] or
removed by Username timestamp [diff]
C. Tag the bottom of the page with .

For kept FARs:

2. Edit the article talk page, removing FAR and adding or updating ArticleHistory.

For removed FARs:

2. Edit the article talk page, removing FAR and adding or updating ArticleHistory, setting |currentstatus=FFA. Also blank any FA-class assessments.
3. If the article has an editnotice specifically because it was an FA, remove or alter the editnotice to reflect the article's current status.
4. Remove featured article from the article page.
5. Remove the article from Wikipedia:Featured articles that haven't been on the Main Page.

The FAR delegates remove delisted articles from WP:FA and add delisted articles to Wikipedia:Former featured articles. Wikipedia:Unreviewed featured articles is periodically updated by a handful of editors.

[edit]

When an FA or FFA is renamed, update their listing on any of the following pages:

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ All FACs moved to the logs should be processed for closing, regardless of whether they were moved by a coordinator: a small group of FAC regulars have been entrusted to archive withdrawn nominations. (Alternatively, we could provide those names.)
  2. ^ a b The line transcluding the article links and featured article tools—which should be removed when a FAC or FAR is closed—looks like this:
    <noinclude>Articlename </noinclude>
  3. ^ The following demonstrates how to update article history. The example assumes there is already one set of article history (e.g. for GAN), which would constitute the action1 series of parameters. Adapt the action2link and action2oldid parameters below for the FAC you are closing:
    • action2 = FAC
    • action2date = ~~~~~
Five tildes automatically inserts the date and time
    • action2link = Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/John Plagis/archive1
This is the title of the FAC page (without the square brackets of wikilinks or the curly brackets of transclusions).
    • action2result = promoted
    • action2oldid = 622472917
To find the oldid, open the promoted article in another browser tab. From the toolbox on the left, select "Permanent link". The oldid is the long number at the right end of the URL (address) bar in the top of your browser:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_Plagis&oldid=622472917
