Get ready to take your iPhone to Raccoon City.

The Resident Evil 2 remake’s Apple App Store release is officially December 10th, Capcom announced. (Before, it was December 31st.)

Like RE4 and Village, RE2 is free to start, but you’ll need to pay to play the whole game. Handily, you only need to buy it on one device (iPhone 15 Pro and up, or M1-and-up iPad / Mac) to play it on your others.

Instagram is having issues playing Mark Zuckerberg’s song he made with T-Pain.

Zuck worked with T-Pain on a new version of “Get Low,” but the song initially wasn’t playing for me and some Verge colleagues on his Instagram carousel.

Now, the song works for me on iOS, but not on desktop. Meta spokesperson Sienna La Rocca confirms that this isn’t a copyright issue, however.

Update: The song is working on iOS but not on desktop.

EA is adding a new league to its NHL game.

The slow, but steady addition of women’s sports in video games continues. This time it’s NHL 25, which is getting a series of updates over the holidays. November 15th’s will introduce a 3-on-3 arcade mode, while on December 5th all six PWHL teams will be added. It’s right on time: the second PWHL season kicks off at the end of November.

Y2Slay.

A24 has released another trailer for Y2K, a slasher movie set on New Years Eve 1999. The clip shows a bit more of the household appliances that have turned into killers and, also, there’s a musical remix featuring Bill Clinton. The movie hits theaters on December 6th.

Bluesky is almost at 15 million users.

A live-updating tracker using Bluesky’s API puts the site at over 14,980,000 users right now.

The site has been growing fast lately, possibly spurred most recently by the US presidential election.

Don’t expect an Xbox handheld any time soon.

Phil Spencer has been dropping hints about a portable Xbox for some time now. But in a new interview with Bloomberg, he cautioned that, while the company is working on prototypes, the release of an actual handheld is still a few years out.

The era of streaming subscription-pausing.

According to subscription analytics provider Antenna, streaming customers are increasingly pausing subscriptions and returning to them within a year, rather than abandoning them entirely — likely coinciding with the release of seasonal hit shows or sports.

“I keep an eye on my streaming services because it’s death by a thousand paper cuts,” one consumer told The Wall Street Journal. “I don’t want to get killed with monthlies.”

Spotify now has 252 million subscribers.

That’s growth of 12 percent year-over-year, according to the company’s third quarter earnings. Monthly active users are up, too, reaching 640 million.

Today I’m toying with the PS5 Pro.

I’ve got a whole series of these hands-on gadget videos — find more on my Threads — but with the PS5 Pro, it’s only now I’ve been able to make one! At Sony’s preview event, journalists couldn’t touch the final hardware so I focused on what it’s like to play; at review time, my video tried to show off the graphics.

He’s in the game.

Disney is searching for potential CEO candidates outside of the company, and one person being considered is EA CEO Andrew Wilson, Variety and The Wall Street Journal report. The company plans to announce Bob Iger’s successor in early 2026.

The new intro for Sea of Stars seems promising.

I really didn’t like the slow opening hours of the Chrono Trigger-inspired RPG when I reviewed it last year, but the new “Dawn of Equinox” update adds a “revamped prologue” that includes action upfront.

The update also adds local co-op, combat tweaks, and a lot more. Seems like a great time to jump into the game ahead of next spring’s Throes of the Watchmaker DLC.

Apple Music Classical 2.1 lets you Liszt-en in your car.

The latest version of the app now includes support for CarPlay and Siri, alongside “stability and performance enhancements” according to Apple.

It’s more surprising that this wasn’t already available. MacRumors notes that CarPlay support also briefly appeared in January before mysteriously vanishing just hours later. I’m glad they brought it Bach.

A new home for Hideaki Itsuno.

In August, the longtime Capcom director announced that he was leaving the company after more than three decades and a number of hits, including Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma. Now we know where he’s headed: Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios is opening a Japanese branch, where Itsuno will focus on “original AAA action game titles.” Which is exactly what he’s good at.

Nintendo Music now has Wii Sports tunes.

Nintendo has added 30 Wii Sports tracks to its Music service. Eurogamer reports that it amounts to 18 minutes in total, including the title theme, main menu tune, and the various melodies that play during tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing modes. Nintendo launched its music streaming app for Switch Online subscribers last month, and it’s slowly adding to the library to make it a comprehensive collection of Nintendo’s musical history.

It’s (almost) on like Donkey Kong.

Nintendo is about to make yet-another non-Switch 2 announcement, this time showing off the Donkey Kong Country expansion for Super Nintendo World in Osaka. Don’t expect many surprises, though, as the company says “no game information will be featured.” You can watch along with the embed below at 5PM ET.
