Welcome

[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! 10:11, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Czech WT:FWOTD

[edit]

If you see any interesting Czech or Old Czech words, you should nominate them for Foreigh Word of the Day! Vininn126 (talk) 10:45, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reminder! I'll try to do it. Solvyn (talk) 11:12, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

User page

[edit]

Don't you think you should create a user page so other users can know more about you. Rodrigo5260 (talk) 14:01, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message. I've always wanted to create a user page but haven't finished the design[clarification needed] yet. Solvyn (talk) 11:40, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I see. Rodrigo5260 (talk) Rodrigo5260 (talk) 13:23, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
At least add the BabelBox so other users can know what languages and scripts you know (you can base in my user page for that) Rodrigo5260 (talk) 12:25, 28 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Lithuanian entries

[edit]

Hello Solvyn, I'm glad you're contributing to my language, I'd like to make you aware of some details that you often omit:

Dead links: you often add links to dictionaries that don't have the word

Wrong transcriptions: You often put wrong diphthongs Anatolijs LTV (talk) 23:48, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your message! Solvyn (talk) 23:51, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please tell me where the dead links are so I can remove it myself. Solvyn (talk) 23:53, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I just removed one in anglikonas, take a look at your latest contributions Anatolijs LTV (talk) 23:56, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, I don't want you to change the Further reading to Reference. The reason can be seen in my edit of grojaraštis. Solvyn (talk) 00:13, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much. But I don't think it's “often” unless you find more than 5 dead links. I hope Lithuanian has a pronunciation template in the future, maybe we need to request Benwing. Solvyn (talk) 00:08, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh maybe I looked too quickly; I thought about it but they always seem to be busy Anatolijs LTV (talk) 00:14, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
For Lithuanian pronunciation, I follow it. Solvyn (talk) 23:57, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's good material, but I also recommend you use it as a supplement Anatolijs LTV (talk) 23:59, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
