1. (passive suffix, archaic) Added to a front-vowel verb to form a verb with a passive meaning.

   ‎nevez (“to name”) + ‎-tetik → ‎neveztetik (“to be named”)

• (passive suffix) Variants:

  -atik is added to back-vowel verbs ending in a consonant + t and most monosyllabic verbs

  ‎ad (“to give”) + ‎-atik → ‎adatik (“to be given”)

  -etik is added to front-vowel verbs ending in a consonant + t and most monosyllabic verbs

  ‎szül (“to give birth”) + ‎-etik → ‎születik (“to be born”)

  -tatik is added to back-vowel verbs ending in a vowel + t

  ‎használ (“to use”) + ‎-tatik → ‎használtatik (“to be used”)

  -tetik is added to front-vowel verbs ending in a vowel + t

  ‎nevez (“to name”) + ‎-tetik → ‎neveztetik (“to be named”)
