Portal:Spirituality (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Undeveloped portal. Only five selected articles and three selected images. Selected article #5 is a slightly promotional blurb for a low-importance, start-class article. Mark Schierbecker (talk) 02:55, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per the nom. This junk portal has been abandoned progressively for over a decade and clearly fails WP:POG's requirement that portals should be about subjects broad enough to attract large numbers of maintainers and readers. This portal has had over five years of no maintainers and the DYK section has changed once in 10 years. Per WP:DYK, "The DYK section showcases new or expanded articles that are selected through an informal review process. It is not a general trivia section." It only had a low 30 views per day in June and July 2019 (despite the head article Spirituality having 1100 views per day in the same period). Portals stand or fall on their merits in the now, not what could someday hypothetically happen with them, and this one falls flat. I am strongly against allowing recreation, as a portal is clearly not warranted for this narrow topic. Newshunter12 (talk) 17:45, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Portal:Spirituality. This portal has only five articles, the last of which was updated in 2016, and they are implemented as subpages, which are a failed architecture. No one is maintaining it. In Jan-Feb 19, the portal had 26 pageviews. If anyone wants to implement a new version of the portal using a new architecture that does not use forked subpages, they know where Deletion Review is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert McClenon (talkcontribs) 02:36 14 August 2019 (UTC)
  • Delete per nominator and per @Newshunter12 + @Robert McClenon.
This is an abandoned mini-portal with fake DYKs, built using the outdated content-forked-subpages model.
Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Spirituality shows five selected articles. The first 4 were created in 2013, and /5 was created in 2016. /2, and /4 and /5 are completely untouched since their creation, while /1 and /3 have each had one disambiguation edit. So they are just an outdated set of content forks.
Portal:Spirituality/Did you know is a fake DYK ection: none of them items listed has any connection to WP:DYK. Per WP:DYK, "The DYK section showcases new or expanded articles that are selected through an informal review process. It is not a general trivia section" ... but these are not new or expanded articles, nor have the entries been through any review process They are just WP:TRIVIA.
Readers are done a great disservice by being lured away from well-maintained articles to an abandoned page which has never come anywhere near bring a well-formed portal. We have 6 years of evidence that editors do not maintain this portal, so it fails the WP:POG requirement that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers". Time to help our readers, by deleting this portal. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:59, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
