Czeslaw Gerwel, M.D. Polish physician and a parasitologist. Born in Baranowicze on July 18, 1909 as one of five children of Stanislaw and Natalia (Suszycka). Professor Gerwel set the base for clinical parasitology in Poznan, Poland. Czeslaw Gerwel fought in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, under the pseudonim of "Orlos" under the auspices of Armia Krajowa (Home Army)Armia Krajowa. He was emplyed by the National Institute of Hygene in Warsaw: Staatliches Institut fur Hygienene in German took photographs of the Warsaw Uprising as well as photographs of Zeithain in Germany where he was transported in October of 1944.
