About this template
[edit]This template organizes juvenile series published during America's baby boomer years, 1946-1964. These books are of the sub-genre of children's fiction known as the juvenile series. This is distinct from series of children's books in general, which are categorized more broadly under Category:Series of children's books. Juvenile series are usually books written for a young adult audience which feature formulaic plots, continuing characters, and positive conclusions.
Some series began publication before the BB years, then continued (or ceased) publication into (or during) the BB years. Some continued to publish even beyond those years. Juvenile series that ceased publication before 1946 or began publication after 1964 are not included here. A question mark in a title's publication dates indicates the date is unknown or new titles are still being published.ItsLassieTime (talk) 03:16, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
- What about gender-neutral series like Bobbsey Twins? Powers T 14:49, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- "Bobbsey Twins (1904–1979)" is in both Girls and Boys sections of the predecessor template {{Early Juvenile Series}}. If they will be excluded here, perhaps the title should be revised to "Juvenile series inaugurated 1930 to ?". Or the two should be cross-linked somehow.
- I added The Happy Hollisters to both sections of this template. --P64 (talk) 17:21, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
An edit that needs to be done
[edit]Since this template is fully protected from editing, someone at some point will need to make a minor edit to the Boys' books section where it has The Hardy Boys. In the template, the link goes to "Hardy Boys", which is simply a redirect to "The Hardy Boys." I only mention this because when you are on the actual Hardy Boys page, the template should have The Hardy Boys show up in bold, but it doesn't. —Jrcla2 01:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- Someone else fixed this.—DocWatson42 (talk) 05:51, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Is this US only?
[edit]This template seem to have a silent, underlying understanding that it is only about books published in USA!? Or are there any other reason why Swallows and Amazons series are excluded? Bw --Orland (talk) 07:40, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
