The opening section includes the sentence:

"As late as 2005, well into her 90s, she was Professor Emerita of philosophy at Virginia Tech."

But this is a bizarre thing to say, since Professor Emeritus/Emerita is a lifelong title held by all retired professors in academia. It requires no duties, so holding that title says nothing about the person holding it other than that they retired from the position of Professor.Daqu (talk) 18:22, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This segment, under the "family" section, needs in my opinion both a quotation and further elaboration.

besides farming, she also wrote, introducing English-speaking readers to the existentialists, though their philosophy drew from her the reaction, "Ugh."

I am deleting the latter part. It gives the impression that Grene was dismissive towards continental philosophy - especially since no details or context is given – although she seems to have worked towards a reunification in regard to the analytical/continental-divide. Example: Grene, Marjorie 1976: "Life, death, and language: some thoughts on Wittgenstein and Derrida". Included in the Partisan review (pp. 265 – 279), vol. 43, no. 2.
