This article says that meänkieli is an eastern Finnish dialect. Here is a map that says the opposit, the Finnish language in the most northern parts of Sweden is a Western Finnish dialect. [1] / Habj 23:11, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say that meänkieli is part of the northern dialects (pohjoismurteet) of finnish. The northern dialects are more west finnish origin than east. --Icepenguin 12:06, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say there is no real need for this page, since Karelian is a language, and dialects northern, western and easter could and should be referred from the finnish language page. meankieli, is definitly not eastern. I can't be bothered to find out how to AfD a page nowadays. 85.156.70.176 (talk) 22:41, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say there should be an own area for Kotka and it's area,Kymi, the dialect spoken there is quite different from Savonnian and Karelian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.27.82.167 (talk) 16:01, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
