Bellefontaine is an unincorporated community in Washington County, in the U.S. state of Missouri.[1]

History

A variant name was "Bellefountaine".[1] Bellefontaine took its name from nearby Bellefontaine Lead Mine.[2] The community once had Bellefontaine Schoolhouse, now defunct.[3]
