- Skryne, officiellement Skreen (en irlandais, Scrín Cholm Cille, l'oratoire de Colm Cille, ou originellement, The Hill of Acaill, la colline d'Acaill) est un village situé sur une colline entre les routes nationales N2 et N3 dans le comté de Meath, en Irlande. Le village est situé de l'autre côté de la vallée de Gabhra, près de la colline de Tara. Cette vallée est parfois appelée la Vallée Tara-Skryne. La colline de Skryne est plus haute que la colline de Tara. Vers 1170, Hugh de Lacy, seigneur de Meath, accorda Skryne à Adam de Feypo dont les descendants utilisèrent le titre coutumier de Baron Skryne. Une église du XVe siècle, connue localement sous le nom de Skryne tower ou The Steeple, subsiste en bon état au sommet de la colline, elle est visible depuis une grande partie de Meath. - Skryne or Skreen (from Irish: Scrín Cholm Cille, meaning 'Colm Cille's shrine, or originally called The Hill of Acaill'), is a village situated on and around a hill between the N2 and N3 national primary roads in County Meath, Ireland. It is situated on the far side of the Gabhra valley from the Hill of Tara. This valley is sometimes referred to as the Tara-Skryne Valley. The Hill of Skryne is higher than the neighbouring Hill of Tara. About 1170 Hugh de Lacy, Lord of Meath granted Skryne to Adam de Feypo, whose descendants used the customary title Baron Skryne, which was not a peerage in the strict sense. A 15th-century church, known locally as Skryne tower or The Steeple, remains in good condition at the top of the hill and is visible from a large area of Meath. At the foot of the tower is a pub and stables that feature in the Guinness "white Christmas" television advertisement. (en)
